Madasafish - free router offer now withdrawn

I got a call from my brother late last night, fuming because he now has to pay £40 for the Voyager 240 router.

I'd done some research for him the night before, and decided that MADASAFISH is just about the best ISP, based on his needs (low cost, free connection, free modem router, decent cap, good reviews). He needs a router, and not USB modem, because his daughter also uses a second PC for school work.

When he went to sign-up last night, the signup page now states that this router costs £40. If he'd signed up the night before he would've been OK. Why the heck couldn't Madasafish warn prospective customers that this offer was about to end?????

I've told him to hold off now, while I do some more research.
Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!

The free modem allows 2 pc's to be connected.

" The Voyager 210 is a broadband router that lets you connect up to 2 computers to the broadband service at the same time. The 210 is ideal for connecting a PC and a games console simultaneously. .....

    Technical Requirements:
To connect using the USB port, you will need to have a computer running Windows 98SE, Me, 2000, XP, or Linux (unsupported). If you have a Mac running OS 9.1 and above you will be able to connect using the using the Ethernet port on this router.

One USB - One ethernet. HTH

Thanks for the response GreenNotM, the Voyager 210 is not an option, due to its use of USB. My brother has low-spec PCs, but he does have ethernet cards. I suspect USB also requires one PC to be turned on for the other to get internet, which is too cumbersome.

I emailed madasafish, and they have agreed to uphold the offer in this case as a gesture of goodwill.

Have to take my hat off to them, that's great customer service.

the USB port probably will not have to be on at the same time.... but your brother is going to have to get ethernet cards anyway, inorder to use the router.... however, ethernet/lan/network ports have been standard pc equipment on motherboards for at least 3-4 years now

You can use either the USB or Ethernet on the Voyager 210 modem you dont have to use them both at the same time for it to work , you can get USB cards for about a fiver on Ebay
