moving my FD ISA to Halifax?

Hi all

I have a 2005-2006 mini cash ISA with FD which has the full 3k in it, but i understand that after the intro rate finished, the rate is not competitive.

I'd like to move it to Halifax and also get a new 2006-2007 mini cash ISA.

Is this simply a case of applying now and letting them transfer the 2005/06 isa, then putting another 3k in it come april 6th? or would i have to xfer the 05/06 then apply for a 06/07?

i guess this stuff is easy if you've done it previously, but i haven't so im confused...

thanks

ps. i filled in the online application for halifax isa yesterday, there was no transfer in options

    Hi

I have just done much the same....

Transfer your Isa over ASAP, you will probably find ou will have to give 30 days notice and the Halifax wil do all the work for you. Then pay in next years ISA allowance (upto £3K) after April the 6th.

DO NOT close your ISA yourself, let the Halifax transfer it over for you......
  • Same here, contact Halifax, tell them you want to transfer an existing mini cash ISA, give them the details and they will then do the rest. I had to go into a Halifax branch with the required forms of identification, the ISa was opened there and then. There was a bit of delay because they told me, after visiting branch, that the ISa couldn't be operated until I had provided the identification documents in branch!! I 'phoned and was able to state which branch I had visited, the name of the counter clerk, the date visited and the time. No arguments thereafter.

Ironic, isn't it - if you're with First Direct the rate is now 4% but if you move to FD it's 5% to 1st September...

(I moved away from them after the 6 months tickler ran out last October. They have just invited me to open/transfer back - as a 'new' customer I assume)
