Ebay took item off listing even though authentic product

Hi all

I recently listed for sale on ebay for a pair of designer shoes - Christian Louboutins. They are the genuine article, they were delivered into my workplace in error by DHL and despite several attempts to contact DHL, seller and buyer we have had no replies so have kept them. We put them on Ebay and Ebay have stopped the listing because someone emailed them saying they were fakes - even though I know this to be untrue. Unfortunately I don't have the certificate proving these are authentic, and I don't know if another seller has put the boot in because my shoes attracted a lot of interest. Maybe they are selling the same shoes and are trying to get rid of the competition, I don't know. Ebay have not investigated this person's claims, they have just acted off someone's incorrect information.

My question is, does anyone know what I can do now, as obviously the money would come in very handy at the moment.

Thanks

When abouts did you receive them? Was there nothing with them to prove authenticity?

Many designers would send the receipt/authenticity certificate separately so that if they get "lost in transit" then they can't be sold on...

If you think someone reported you, then surely a quick search on ebay would tell you who else are selling these shoes?

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

As already mentioend they were delivered to my place of work in error.

I contacted the carrier, DHL, they weren't interested. As far as they were concerned they had a signature and that was that. I contacted the seller by email, no response, I sent several emails. I did the same with the buyer, and got no response either. I waited a year for either the seller or buyer to get in touch, and neither did.

Now I'm not sure what to do.

I'd do nothing personally, how on earth do you even know they are real? You have no certificate nor any proof at all they are anything but fakes.

Small ads them or try another auction site.

I have a feeling the said shoes are fakes because I'm sure any reputable company would have answered your email immediately as they wouldn't want to be out of pocket sending another pair to the original customer.

According to the person who actually took receipt of them here there was something on a piece of paper saying they'd come from Paris, which is obvioulsy where CL is based. However, you're right, I have no proof of this as that particular piece of paper was considered to be 'rubbish' and thrown away....

I have no way of actually proving the shoes are authentic, as someone else's word in this case just won't do. I have tried contacting CL themselves and asked for their opinion, but no word back yet.

Thanks to all for yr replies and advice.

Islandman1010 - what did your friend do?

I appreciate that ebay need to protect themselves from prosecution and that nobody wants to get stuck with a fake after buying a product in good faith. However, hand on heart, I believe these to be genuine... I just can't prove it unfortunately.
  • In 2007 I had a large number of items pulled through the Vero programme. I was fuming but also had all of the receipts, records of transactions etc, which I then supplied to the Vero "partner".

I'm now, offically, on the "safe" list and have had no issues since.

Just had it confirmed by one of the assistants at Christian Louboutin that my shoes are indeed the genuine article.

Thanks to all for your advice and helpfulness.
