Squeaking noise when turning corner, really worried!!

Help!!

I got my clutch replaced last week and the car was fine. Yesterday eve when driving home I heard a hi pitch screech when turning a corner (I had the radio on so wasn't sure if it was actually coming from my car. This morning it happened 4 times on the way to work. Only when going round a corner (happened when turning left and right) But didn't happen when turning right/left at mini roundabouts. I am really worried as am driving to France on Saturday. The noise is squeaking/screeching not grinding. Does anyone know what could be causing it......

Who knows. But try and replicate it at low speed with your ear to the area whilst someone else is driving. Hopefully you can then isolate it and see if something is rubbing. Otherwise, I would take it straight to a garage.

Edit:- Check under bonnet that they have not left something dangling somewhere.

Yeh that might be worth a try, anyone else got an idea of what it could be?

  • Park up, engine running, and turn the wheel from lock to lock. If it squeals at the ends, its belt-related.

I would check for disc pads sticking on the carrier pins. Try this. Find a clear slight bend and, driving SLOWLY with the squealing happening, VERY GENTLY touch the brake and see if the squeal stops. If that is the case go back to the garage and enquire whether or not they were working at all in that area. If not ask for the pads to be freed off. Not a big job. A sharp bend, like a mini roundabout, would force the pads back but only until you next brake. Good luck nightsky.

On a Renault forum 1 person has replied saying
If they have had the suspension disconnected to do
the clutch it may be the tracking is out

Does anyone think this maybe a posibility?

This sounds fairly typical of a power steering problem, and something I've experienced on various cars. Check the power steering reservoir to ensure the fluid is still up to the recommended level, and check under the car after it has been parked up a while for any signs of leakage onto the road.

Have tried to check but it is hidden on a clio (will at least my year/model) Will check if it has been leaking in the morning. It sits on stones at work so you wouldn't be able to tell.
