It is a simple statement of fact. Going to Oxford and seeing people with a lot of wealth made me unimpressed with wealth. Some of the people I knew with a lot of wealth were lovely people, some were not.

But what it means is that if a BTL'er comes on here mentioning how clever he has been in the housing market, do not expect me to become starry eyed with admiration or green-eyed with envy.

That is my attitude, if you want to misinterpret it or get annoyed, that is your problem not mine.

i think H's 'losing his marbles' moment was that the person that made the innocent comment was a person whos wife had invested in BTL.

i can never understand the animosity to those who invest in BTL - i'm sure that our resident civil servant must rent somewhere or does he live with mama and papa still...

Oh no, how can this be?

My dream of a BTL 'empire' has returned into sand, vanished from my hand, left me blindly here to stand but still not saving.

    Bother.

yes, i think it starts in approximately one month.

oh, actually i think we're due some LR and halifax figures before then, so the next crash will be on us even sooner than that.

They're like buses, you wait 10 years for one to come along and then two turn up, one behind the other.

These rises are entirely predictable, in fact I think I posted a few days ago saying I expected a 1% rise, no housing crash in history has gone down every single month from start to finish, it's the reason they take so long to play out, it's like the Halifax figure in January, of course if we see a 3-4 month trend of upward pressure that would be something entirely different.

Yes that was a good prediction, i remember reading it and thinking you had a point.
