I must say is comments about I know richer than you to the other poster was not very polite.
That is why I butted in, to show how impolite those kind of things are.;)
It is a simple statement of fact. Going to Oxford and seeing people with a lot of wealth made me unimpressed with wealth. Some of the people I knew with a lot of wealth were lovely people, some were not.
But what it means is that if a BTL'er comes on here mentioning how clever he has been in the housing market, do not expect me to become starry eyed with admiration or green-eyed with envy.
That is my attitude, if you want to misinterpret it or get annoyed, that is your problem not mine.Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable. J. K. Galbraith0 -

Equally the other poster was not trying to impress you and never mentioned how clever he was.
It was you who brought wealth up not the other poster.
You did go on a mini rant.;)
What does going to oxford have to do with being unimpressed with wealth?
I never went to oxford and am unimpressed with wealth alone.
But I m impressed with charismatic self made millionaires with a story to tell.
Just as equally I am impressed by charismatic bankrupt people with a story to tell.0 -

But play the game how you like. I won't cheat, though if you feel you have to, feel free
OK, did you forecast that prices would fall by 50-70%, did you then change that forecast to 45-55 %'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. There are quite a few rich people at Oxford, and if like me you went to a Comprehensive School, real wealth becomes demystified when you see it up close for the first time.
I conceded before that I had got the wrong end of the stick regarding whether he was boasting or not, so that is the end of the matter as far as I am concerned.Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable. J. K. Galbraith0 -

Being rich doesn't make you a good or a bad person - I know lots of rich !!!!!!, I also know lots of lovely rich people. It's the same through all levels of wealth and income.
There are a load of silly caricatures - the rich lonely man; the moral, happy simple poor man; the grasping miser....in the end they're meaningless. People are who they are. Money doesn't change most people - those who are changed superficially by it were idiots to begin with IME.0 -
