Sounds like when I worked at WHS. Customers would complain to us. Then they would complain to Customer Services, a week or so later come in with a £10 Gift Voucher!Weight Loss - 102lb0

I have no problem with Aldi or Lidl, I do most of our shopping in them.
I do have problems with other shops in the area. Kwick save and Filco to name but two, but I will not go in them.
Now I find the local Kwick save is closing!. I do not hear of any Aldi or Lidl closing.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

Thats a bit unfair - I use a credit card for my shopping cos it makes economical sense - its means I keep my money in my bank account for an extra four weeks - common sense really, it has absolutely nothing to do with trying to appear "superior" (but thanks for reminding me that I am) - ONLY JOKING!0 -

eh..think you will find aldi do not take credit cards whatsoever only debit...so no good using the exta four weeks interest excuse! you are and think your superior!0 -
sorry thats life i'm afraid...Reminds me of when I was in Matalan the other and two women were cursing about the length of the queue...I suggested to them that if they went to M&S i'm sure they would not have to put up with this, but there again M&S would be happy to take £35 off them for the similar lamswool top they were about to pay £9.99 for
I know what you mean about Lidl and the check outs..to be honest if you go to Waitrose i'm sure you will find the "customer experience" very different with smiley staff, checkouts galore and wafting bread smell as you go in..but there again you are likely to pay double the cost..
Tat??...I can assure you that a number of Lidl's suppliers also supply Waitrose! (e.g Noon Foods)The Early bird may catch the worm ...but its the second mouse that gets all the cheese!0 -
from experience of working in lidl many years ago staff morale is very low because they get treated like s*%t by management and also have to do all the jobs that your tesco, sainsburys etc employ a cleaning crew for. when i worked there i used to have to sweep the underground carpark every night and run the risk of waking the local tramp who threatened to kill me on a few occasions. then you have to mop the floors to an extremely high standard as well as the tills. thats how lidl keep their overheads down. by treating their staff like s&*t.There's someone in my head, but it's not me0

I can see the logic in only having one checkout open, thats why the goods are a lot cheaper, less overheads and all, what i cant accept is rude or cocky staff!
Its costs nothing to be polite! after all staff would be out of a job if it wasnt for the customer, polite staff will only make customers want to return, rude staff will only drive that customer to want to shop elswhere.

I have to make my stand for Lidls. I shop in Warminster and the staff there are pretty ok most of the time. I have 6 children so am shopping for 8 people, I have two children under 3 when I shop and as there are no double trolleys I have to use a back carrier for my one year old. I have a trolley piled high (yes, I am that nightmare customer who holds up everyone in the queues - although they do always open another checkout when I come along). The experience is not quite the same as having my shopping delivered from Tescos but the quality and price of food is second to none (unless you can afford to shop in Waitrose).
Lidls in my opinion offer outstanding value for money in just about everything they sell which is why Tesco have lost our custom and Lidls have gained it. Personally I can live without the pampered shopping experience offered by Tesco especially when I know I'm paying for it.
Just compare the ingredients on products from Tesco and Lidl you will generally find that Lidl use much purer ingredients and not nearly so many additives.0 -
Anthillmob, agree with you 100% ! as the mother of an ex-Lidl employee. Next time you shop in Lidl and a n other supermarket, check out the number of staff around. Staff that are in Lidl do every job associated with keeping that shop open, with some staff working 12+ hours per day. That is how Lidl keep their prices down so shoppers cant have it both ways. As well as that, from my daughter's experience it doesnt matter how well you do your job, it is never enough. Staff are not appreciated or encouraged so it is not surprising to find low staff morale which is reflected in customer service. And before someone says they have a choice about working for Lidl...of course they do but what attracts Lidl employees is what seems like the great pay, however you then discover when you divide this seemingly great pay by the number of hours you work, it can very often turn out to be less than the minium wage. Sadly by the time these young people (if you note it is broadly speaking 17 - 25yr olds working there) find this out they have become accustomed to having this salary and are torn between working ridiculous hours or earning half the wages elsewhere.
Sorry for going on but sometimes it is maybe worth looking at life from the other side of things.0
