Brake dust stains on alloy wheels

Despite cleaning the alloy wheels on my car with a stiff brush and a spray-on cleaning product, there are still brake dust stains that I can't seem to budge.

Any ideas for ways to remove these stains?

    Hi LegsX1

Welcome to mse. :) We had the same problem and found that t-cut worked.

You will probably get more replies on the motoring board, so I'll move your thread over there.

I'd definitely go for Wonder Wheels. You brush on, leave for a bit then wash off. It's got rid of every brake dust stain I've come across!
    Can I help?

Another vote for Wonder Wheels after having tried everything else. Makro did have 2 bottles for the price of 1 when I got mine.

    WD-40 I believe works well,
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

if your going to use WD-40, dont get too excited whilst spraying it.

you DO NOT want to get any of it on your brake disc or on your pads.

WonderWheels is very very good - as is Cillit Bang. For those really tough stains new brake fluid is the best - but keep it away from your paintwork at all costs - best to remove the wheel to do it.

Wonder wheels for me too! Halfords 1lt bottle about £ 6-7 or if you can get hold of a Costco card £8.50 for a 5lt bottle of it with a free brush :D .

This is sensible advice. A way to ensure the product only goes on the affected area is to spray the WD-40 (while you're facing away from the car) onto a rag/cloth first........then put the rag/cloth on the affected area.;)

or, avoid any problems and doubts by not using the WD40 until the last resort.
