Charged for Talk1+World Calls!

:hello: Hey everyone :hello: :D

I've just got m'bill from TalkTalk, and my nice £8 credit has now gone to 45p because the free calls to USA seem not to be going through as free.

Most of the calls are to one number but some of these are free while others are charged. The duration is only a few minutes long, sometimes just a minute long, so it isn't like we're going over the 70minute limit. Has anyone had this problem where some are going through as free and others are charged, when they should all be free??

Also a friend of ours used to be with TalkTalk but suddenly decided to switch away without telling us so we've incurred a couple of quid of calls to them (peak time too :() do you reckon TalkTalk will do anything about this as a goodwill gesture? ;)

CrazyChemist call CS straight away and get your bill sorted out. Are the free calls available in the evening and weekends and have you been calling USA during these times? If not and you call during when the offer is not free then they will charge you from 5p/minute.

As with redux's response, I doubt they will give you a refund for the charges made to your friend who has left the TT network.

Because that is clearly the only way they can make money, when someone switches away and other talktalk customers call that person thinking it's free, then get a shock at the end of the month. There should be an announcement like on 1899/18866 before the call.

Also it seems that these were early morning calls but for some reason the peak times have now changed from 8am - 6pm to 6am - 8pm.

They never told us about this! Apparently "BT changed their peak times so we (talktalk) followed. Because that's what the open market and competition is all about - following your competitors like you've got a ring in your nose

They have had same times as BT for some time now.

One of the advantages of using a FREE/Cheap 01/02 package like Primus Saver is that EVERYBODY you call on 01/02 numbers is FREE,and you dont have to worry what supplier they use. Also by keeping your line with BT you can still use 1899 etc.Unlike TT line rental customers who cant anymore.

We have free evening and weekend calls with talktalk but these were calls made which we believed were free. :( I still don't accept that just because it's been like that for 'some time' that we should have known - if they didn't notify us then thats' their fault.

You will find in their t&c's that they will notify you via their website 30 days prior to a change taking place. Notification did appear in this case and was discussed at the time on this site.

I'm surprised as to how many of you accept everything that companies say and shun common sense in that respect. What is this site all about?? Or maybe you don't know that...

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

It's a bit pointless moaning about things that you have agreed to i.e TalkTalks T&C's. Common sense is knowing what you have agreed to and if you don't like it don't agree ;)

If your not happy with talktalk move to a provider that closer matches your needs; That, as far as I can see is what this site is all about - letting you know what the best deal is for your circumstances.
