Will this invalidate my cashback claim?

I was just about to place an order with onestopphoneshop for a mobile phone on an Orange contract, until I noticed in the cashback details:
"Please Note - Free Gifts, Direct Credits and Cashbacks are subject to your handset remaining connected on the network tariff you signed up for."
I was planning to use the phone both here and also in Dublin on the O2 network but it seems this will be a good reason for them not to pay the cashback.

Has anyone still received their cashback after unlocking their phone and using it with another network?

I always sell my phone and still get the cashback! You just have to not touch the original tariff you connected with and you should be fine.

I thought you had to make at least 1-2 calls to validate your contract? I certainly hope so as I am thinking of using my Simcard to make calls(!)

If you have a (quick) read of their T&Cs during signing up, it says that the phone is basically not part of the contract (or something like how I interpeted), i.e. it is yours after receiving it and not really anything to do with the actual contract itself because, you can use whatever phone you like to use that particular sim to make/receive calls/data to/from. The contract relates to the actual Orange tariff that you will be on during the duration of the contract.

They do not track the IMEI I have unlocked and sold my phones and still got the cashback....

    Remember

    • Keep tha SAME Tariff
    • Keep the SAME name and address on the bill as your invoice!
    • Keep the same phone number (or just one change if purchasing via PAC)
    • Send the paperwork recorded (not special) delivery
    • Print the envelopes, covering letters, evelopes, copies of invoice and list of items to include etc now and keep it all read so you just add a copy of your bill!
    • Rememeber to check your date of purchase as bills are due calendar months from this date.
    • Keep a note of the the cheap number for cust services: +01270504400 option 2,5 available from www.saynoto0870.com search for onestopphoneshop or one stop phone shop to get all the numbers)
    • Send COPIES never originals, so if they lose your item you can just fax the bills.
    • Make a calendar of events and keep this with your paperwork work out the earlier you can send the claims in I work it out so it arrives at OSPS the DAY it is due, this maximizes the Window for your claim.
    • Keep all the bills, letter for claims etc in a folder in a safe place.
    • Call them and monitor the progress of your claim (option 2,5) and a 5 to 10 minute wait.. Staff are very helpful in my experience.
    • Never meege the accounts or change the statement date with Orange!
    • Remember to cancel the orange world free offer anytime in the 1st month just call 150 and ask.
    • Remember to cancel the crap free insurance that they give you within the first 3 months!
    • Write reminders in calendars etc and use the tart alert on MSE as well.
Remember 80% of people fail to claim all their cashbacks!

If you do not get your cash back (check you get the right ones I had the ones for e2save but this was not clear luckily I read the T&C and they looks a bit like the OSPS but the return address was different I called and they explained ths address for cashbacks was not the OSPS one!) voucher tell them ASAP in the first few days, they take 30 days to send replacemens but the window to report these missing is small 7days from delivery! Moral it pays to check and prepare for the cash back in the day you get the phones!

    Oh and Quidco ;)
    Seth.
  • Wow Seth, that is one helpful post! I'm keeping a copy as a checklist, thank you!!

In the end I went with e2save as I've already bought from them in the past and their terms and conditions seem clearer

Where did you get this from- I'm curious?
Also I'm considering selling a phone bought this way... Do people not worry about getting the warranty/ receipt? I know I would!
    Cheers

    Hello,

This may sound like a stupid question, but here goes !!

If I add a text bundle onto my monthly contract, does that affect my cashback?

I am 8 months into a 12 month contract with Orange, thro OSPS and I dont want to jepodise my cashback.

    Thanks in advance.

Adding to it won't harm at all! They likely count on people doing that.
