How do i put up net curtain wire??

Hi this may sound like such a daft question, but I cannot put up my net curtain wire.

It comes with hook and eye screws, I assume the hook ones go in the wall and the eye ones go inside the plastic wire. However I dont know how to screw the hook into my brick window surround? Cos I cant screw straight into brick (have to drill into brick, right???) I have tried screwing the hook into the brick but it is going nowhere. What do I do!

So please can someone help me. It seems the simplest job, with me is never simple.

you need to drill the bricks and insert a rawlplug.
the screw hooks then just screw into the rawlplugs.
    Get some gorm.

Thanks for that Ormus, sorry for another probably daft question (I am a female DIY dummy :) ). We only have a 7mm drillbit and brown plugs which take bigger screws, so would we need to buy a smaller drillbit and smaller plugs or could we use the ones we have?

Sunshine, they are pvc. So again, they wouldn't just screw into them.

ok, what about self adhesive hooks, stuck to the frame,
  • you can buy self adhesive hooks for plastic window frames.

I don't think those self adhesive hooks are very reliable. I'd get a smaller drill bit and raw plugs (about 2mm should be okay).

Thanks for all your replies. i think if I have to go spend some money I'll either go for a smaller drillbit and plugs or see if they have any hooks that are big enough for the drill bit and plugs we already have.

Thanks for all your help, you have saved me and my partner from a night of arguing and me accusing him of being useless for not knowing how to put it up :)
  • Just had to let you know that I got round this probem by buying spring loaded net poles (i think that's vaguely what they're called!)

Cost a bit more than normal poles/wire, but they leave no mess and can be moved easily between rooms/houses really quickly

I bought mine from Homebase (who have a 15% off weekend this weekend i think?)

    Hope that helps!

Try the self adhesive pads first, just wipe the area to stick with alcohol (IPA).
