    Hi again

I have set up the mortgage account on my portfolio an can view th balance, etc.

I am unable to make payments to it using either the online system or a new s/o. The system advises the s/c and account number are incorrect however i am taking them from the online system taht shows the mortgage details.

    Any ideas whats wrong?

From memory (been out of the branch network for 4 years and working in projects, but try to keep upto date) I don't think that you can create payments to mortgages via online banking. I also seem to recall that it stops staff from creating payments to mortgages from other Halifax/BoS accounts via the systems in branch unless they are in the form of Halifax Payment Plans. Obviously you can still overpay in branches via the counter, however I think you need to ensure that the payment is made as a part repayment otherwise it will show as an advance rather than coming off the capital.

yeah when i do part-repayment it is keyed under a different code to normal - but this is for payments over £500

regular standing orders can be made anyhow - a lot easier

You can now. I pay my halifax mortgage every month via online banking from my halifax account. It works the same as when I pay any other bill.

    I meant Halifax/BoS staff.

    Great thread!
I am considering overpayments on my Halifax mortgage - but they would be irregular amounts (as & when I have spare cash really). Sounds like in my case I would be better off just making my overpayments over the counter in the branch?
Or is it possible to make 'as & when' payments on-line?

Also will my overpayments be paid against capital or interest?

Lots of questions I know but seeing as there seems to be loads of HBOS staff on this thread I should be alright!
