Orange free broadband

Hello everyone,
Just received my weekly "Martin's Money Tips" email, and there is an article for free broadband from Orange if you have a mobile contract with them, of which I do. I am currently using Plusnet @ £15p.m and find them ok, but would consider changning to Orange if there broadband is any good. Has anyone taken up there offer, or already use them, if so what are they like?
Many thanks.
Jeff.

You can get Orange BB Home Starter for free. Provided that you are on
Orange mobile phone conract and your exchange is LLU then you can get
the Orange BB connected to your existing BT type line for free.Gives you up
to 8Mbps download speed with 10GB monthly allowance.

You can also get some money back if you signup through Quidco.

I've taken on the Orange BB last week and the Line was activated last
Monday. It didnt cost me anything, no activation fees. I am getting good
    downstream and upstream.

    Atomic_guy,
Thanks for the reply, sorry it took me such a long to respond to you. Are your upstream and downstream speeds still ok?
    Much appreciated.
    Jeff.

I have just found out that Plusnet (who I am currently with) offer the same package as Orange for £5.49 per month. Should I stay with them as they have been ok for the past 4 years, or go with Orange who are free? However Oranges have an 18 month contract.
    Regards.

I find Orange Broadband ok, be careful on your download limit though as they don't give you any warnings by email like some companies, they just reduce your speed drastically for a few months which is quite painful. If you download torrents, Utorrent has a schedule in the preference options so you can automatically reduce your bandwidth during peak times.

    Hi all,
I was hoping for a few more comments before I decided what to do, hope someone can help. I don't know what is happening with Plusnet at the moment but the broadband speeds are very poor to say the least.
My options are, stay with Plusnet who offer the same package as Orange for £5.49 per month, go with Orange or O2 have a broadband package if you have a mobile contract with them (of which I do), help.
    Regards
    Jeff.

Just to add, I have noticed if you have any O2 mobile you can get unlimited broadband at specially discounted rates; 8 Mbps is £7.50/month, 16 Mbps is £10/month. Has anyone got this, is O2 broadband anygood?
    Regards.

Just rang orange to change to different address and the customer service was terrible. My speed has reduced drastically especially over the easter period. They said it would take 21 days to change over. I would advise to go to bt and spend a little extra as orange is getting slower by the day. I think it is that loads of people are signing up because of their deals, but the performance is terrible.

Daisy89, thanks for the feedback it is very much appreciated.

pob976, I have just done a speed test on my broadband, and the download speed is 1.82mbps and the upload speed is 0.35mbps. I don't live that far from the exchange and Plusnet advertise speeds upto 8mbps. Over the last year my internet is becoming slower and slower. Definately not worth £14.94 per month. Thanks also for your feedback.
    Regards
    Jeff.
