No it isnt, if you earn more than IS then you will not be entitled to IS
When i spoke to IS about maintenance i was told by them that if i had more than IS allowance then i would not be entitled to IS
I thought it came off £1 for £1 on anything over £20. You can't claim WTC unless you work at least 16 hours so what happens if you work 15 and are over IS like you say but can't get WTC.

I'm unsure too, i get £56 a week IS, my wages will come to £80 a week. If i'm allowed to have £20, does that mean IS will take the other £60 even though i get less at the moment?

Kimberley- Working 16 hours or more , will entitle you to WTC and CTC, you can also keep any maintainance you receive off your ex without it affecting the award, you would also keep your child benefit. You would probably get help with childcare, though it doesn't sound as though you'll need this.

You will lose free school dinners. You will have to pay rent and council tax. You might get a little bit of help with these as I think it depends on income.

yes, that is right £1 for every £1, but when you earn more than they give then you are no longer entitled to IS, hence i saying that this new system is going to make alot of people financially worse off, hence me saying be careful

You can't get school dinners. It's a bit of an odd one that because your income has to be below around £13K but you aren't allowed it if you receive WTC, even if your income is still below that amount. There's a few thread on the subject on this board. My friend gets perscriptions free and eye tests, glassess though she works. I'm guessing the dentist is also free for her though I've never asked.

My guess Kimberley is it's going to be how much you will have to pay in rent council tax and whether you receive maintainance or not which will affect what you do.

Right I'm with you now I think. So if your IS is £120 a wek say you can earn £119 and just keep £20 but you have a problem if you earn £121. Is that what you mean.

If kimberly is working less than 16 hours but not getting IS cause she earns to much, the she will prob get free meals because she is only claiming CTC, but total income will need to be less than £13k
