Sorry, not helpful but you will not get HiFi for £300. All you'll get is a mediocre sound transmitter with tinny treble, muddled midrange and booming, out of control bass.0

System 2 here looks pretty reasonable if you can stretch to £369, but no tuner unfortunately. It's not exactly hi fi, but it'll sound as good as anything else for the price. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.

I 2nd what Fifer said. 'HIFI' is just not possible at that price:idea:0

What about one of these, I really like mine, not hi fi but really versatile.
DAB, FM, Wi Fi internet Radio and iPod dock. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Have a look at some TEAC and Denon mini systems in John Lewis, nearer to hi-fi than normal cheap (rather than cheep - which is the sound a poor hi-fi makes) rubbish.
The system Fifer mentions is a very good buy, Richer Sounds are excellent.0 -
Id buy one of these ~

Youll need to buy some speaker wire (Or blag some for free)

And sit the speakers on blutack (trust makes ~ makes a HUGH difference), or on proper speaker wall racks:idea:0 -

That looks quite good, I'd probably dump the speakers and cable for something a bit better, maybe some Mission or M-Ss but other than that, probably just what the OP is looking for.
There are some better "separate minis" from Denon and TEAC (Reference) which I prefer, but they are pretty good systems for the price, I have one which is just under 1K with speakers and cabling, and it sounds much better than my old big separates system from the early 1990s.0 -
They're still making wharfedale diamonds?!
My 1st decent pc (p75) speakers were active diamonds...doom sounded a bit goodUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
