BT Vision

I've got BT's top package and they have just offered me a couple of quid off if I tie myself in. This makes it still over £20. I have got one of their BT Vision boxes and use it for freeview and recording programmes. I don't buy any of the programming as have Sky downstairs. I presume if I moved to a different broadband company my freeview would still work, but would I still be able to record and set up series link recording etc ?

I think the recording functions work over part of your internet connection, so wouldn't work if you cancelled. At £20 a month you'd be better off just getting a PVR, something like the Humax 9300T?

If you cancel your BT broadband your vision box wont work for very long , the EPG is delivered from the BT servers, not over the air like ordinary 'freeview' so over time the box dies....
If you dont buy any of the programmes then the £20 is ( I presume) what you are paying for BT broadband ,
If you have some sort of vision viewing pack and dont watch any of it, then you can cancel that ,as long as you have BTBB and a Vision account, the box will work as a PVR and you have the option of buying the pay per view stuff but without BTBB its a small silver brick.
