One last PSU question

Right, back again with yet another PSU question.

I've managed to save some cash for a decent PSU and was hoping someone could point me in the direction of one, I know Enermax, thermaltake, tagan etc are good makes and I've heard mixed reviews about Hiper but I really like the look of This hiper one, I like the idea of the modular design, less cables.

So is it decent? of should I stick to the above mentioned names?

Thanks
Sigless

I would stick to what you know, if your using a modded case (clear sides) then yes the Hiper would be great to look at.

But in a practical world, get what needed because after all its a power supply and thats all.

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm not concerned about how it looks, just that its powerfull enough and as I said, I like the idea of the modular wires, only having whats needed.

I have the Hiper 580W Type-R Modular and it’s in my home built computer costing a couple of grand.
It’s a really amazing and stunning power supply that powers my asus motherboard two SLI Graphics cards 2 cd rom drives eight hard drives.
I won’t buy cheap power supplies after one took out my bros brand new system costing £1500.
Buy the Hiper you won’t be sorry.

When you look inside you can see the quality parts they have used to make the power supply, the power supply is pretty heavy and the build quality is amazing.
That power supply will run anything you throw at it with ease, plus I have a top of the range cooler for my 3800+ athlon 64 cpu.
My tower has five fans and two neons , and the fans are massive and its powers a system like mine.
Plus it has a pro soundcard costing £500 and that soundcard takes some power.
It will run what you need and still have plenty to spare, cheap power supplies cannot give the power you need and simply take out your whole system in one go.
All the best and buy the hiper!

I haven’t heard one little sound with the Hiper power supply, my computer system is for music and it’s worth £4500 and I couldn’t afford a power supply to make any noise while recording.
I paid £60 for mine and it’s the best power supply I have ever bought, all my new builds have that power supply installed.
I have three computers with that power supply installed and it’s a good little power supply.
Stop messing around and buy the dam thing!

It's (the Hiper) meant to be an good psu, although more aimed at the modder (aesthetics) that like the flashy looks and cabling. The modular cabling is very handy though. A lot of the better known manufacturers are starting to switch to such a design.

If you want the best get Seasonic. The S12 500W will set you back nearly £90 though.

If you look on https://www.overclockers.co.uk the Akasa 460W psu is very good for the money (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Akasa_PSU.html). It's around £50.

Or maybe look at one of the Tagan U22 series. In between the above two at around £60-80.

As much as I'd like to get the best £90 is a little over my budget, I have around £60 to spend.

Thought not. Have a look at the Akasa then.

    Or maybe this Tagan:

Or the Hiper you mentioned. It's not the best psu, but it is still very good. The attachable cables are very handy too. I've had an older Hiper (which actually broke the other week) but from what I've read they've improved. I've also had an Enermax which was good, an Antec good too, and two Tagans, which I currently use and am very happy with. I've got a TG530-U22.

Tagan gets my vote. Rock stable, not too noisy, big fat dirty german style heatsinks.

    Oh yes!
