Can someone explain to me what all this means on Orange Livebox:.The reason for
this is because I am looking for the quality of speed on my line. I dont really know

    Upstream Attenuation 15.9 db
    DownstreamAttenuation 28.5 db
    UpstreamNoiseMargin 24.0 db
    DownstreamNoiseMargin 11.9 db

You formatting was a bit screwed but these are the relavant figures and I've put the units and decimal points in.
So you are getting a downstream sync speed of around 8Mbps, so if you are paying for an 8 Meg service thats as good as it gets, your downstream attenuation of 28.5 db, and noise margin of 11.9 db suggest you could go faster if you upgraded to a 16mbps service.
Did you obtain these stats while plugged into the test socket?

Thanks mate for your kind input. It makes better sense to me now.

Sorry about the format, I copied and paste from the Orange Livebox router
    and straight on to here.

I got this stats from the extension socket and not from the master socket.
Master socket is downstaires and the extension socket is in the loft. So
to get that kind of speed is fantastic. Although I'll not get to hopeful at this
stage as the BB is new to this line and would be interesting to see how it
    settle down after 10 days.

I am om Home sterter, so the maximum I can get is up to 8Mbps and I was
adviced the upstream would be around 500Kbs.

One other thing, Do I need to have micro filter from the master socket to the
telephone and also micro filter from the extension to the livebox? At the moment
I just have a micro filter from the extension socket to the router. The problem
I've seen sofar, when someone use the phone the BB disconnects and I am
not entirely shure what is causing that?

    Hi,

Yes you need a microfilter on all the telephone sockets you are using, including your Sky box if you have one.
I'm assuming your extension is hardwired to the back of you master socket faceplate.
You might wish to have a read of this article as it gives some good tips about extension wiring, the main one being to disconnect the bell wire from pin 3 on the extension.

My extension is hardwired to the back of the master socket. Thanks for the
website. I'll have a closer look.

    Hi there

I have the Livebox which also shows downstream current rate is 8061 but any time of any day that I have used speedchecker I only have a download speed of 1mb.

I used to have BT and it definitely seems slower. Orange are no help, any ideas of why it is slow or ideas to speed it up?

    Many thanks

    Derek
