Daewoo DP42SP 42" Plasma £499!!!

I have just been into my local Dixons and the have the Daewoo 42" Plasma DP32SP for £499.
This is by far the cheapest I have even seen a 42" Plasma
1000:1 contrast ratio
852 x 480 pixels so only the bottom HD 480i is supported probably through a VGA port and not HDMI or Component.
But there only seems to be bad things written about it on the internet about them breaking and daewoo support is useless. I guess you have a years warranty (might actually be worth paying for cover, but probably best to shop around on the internet and not take Dixons over priced cover).

Which Dixon's was this at? Also, can't find ANYTHING on the net RE this model? Any links/help/comments?0

It was in Cambridge. Sorry model was DP42SP. Should be able to Google to find info.0

I phoned a few stores, they only have ex display models. Which store in cambridge was it and are they new ones or ex display?0

It was in the town centre (I think there is only one Dixons in Cambridge). It was in the window but didn't say ex-display on it but I guess it could be.0

That'd be Dixons in the Lion Yard, then?::Quidco.com - £1100 in 11 months. Kerr-ching! ::0

I wouldnt go with a display plasma. Life expectancy is a downfall on them anyway.
Wont take too long for image quality and brightness to deteriorate... particularly if it has been on 9 hours per day for 6 months.... thats 1620hours.Be nice0 -
Yes, Lion Yard.0

smashed, please dont talk absolute garbage.
New plasmas have a half life of around 60000 hours. Thats the length of time you can run it before the brightness has halved, at which it is still perfectly watchable as well. Even if the daewoo was half this (without looking up specs), using your calculations it would last you approximately another 102 months. IE 8 and a half years.
Plenty long enough for most, I'd assume...DONE: Great North Run 09! Raised £452 for the National Autistic Society
