  • I was looking at another thread about claiming credit card charges and was under the impression I could try and re-claim. It was MBNA who really peeved me off. They reduced my credit limit when I called them to say I could not pay, charged me £12 default for cancelling DD, charged me another £12 for late payment, added interest, this caused me to go over the new lower limit so they charged me £12 and charged me £12 again for late payment so £48 plus interest in one month. I'm actually getting further into debt each month so if this continues, I will never pay anything off ever!! Mercers have left 2 messages on answering machine to call them. Cannot wait for tomorrow when the phone won't stop!!

Hi i have been attempting my own DMP since dec 2008 and it seems an ongoing thing, just when most seem to be agreeing to my offers there is always one that doen't. MBNA gave me real hassleuntil april this year, refusing my offers demanding more etc BUT when they finally agreed to my repayment offer they credited my account with all the interest and harges that had occurred since dec!!!!!.
has anyone had hassle with freemans catalogue..they have refused every offer i have made... even when CAB wrote to them, now today i received a soliciters letter demanding full settlement within 7 days or they are taking me to court.... Sometimes all this is disheartingand i wonder if it will ever get sorted

I know it seems disheartening but the successes you've had (like MBNA) should spur you on. I would write to Freemans asking again that you reconsider, and you might want to contact the FO and OFT to make a complaint, let them know that you have made several offers of payment as you can't afford the full sum due. They tell you to advise them if you are having difficulty making repayments - however when you contacted them for help, they have acted unreasonably and appear unwilling to work with you to reach a suitable resolution. Worth a try?

  • Hi MyopicMoo. I suggested to my husband that I run his dmp for him but he felt happier using a company. Now, of course, he tells me he's tied into an agreement that means if he finishes it he still pays the fee for the original agreed duration. I will check this out before I go back to work...

Only had a little to do with the DMP today. I have sent my new soa to the bank as part of my hardship claim.

Positive news, another of the councils who we owe council tax arrears to have accepted our payment offer. 2 out of 4 so far :j.

Some of our 'we're starting a DMP and here is our soa and your share :p' letters have now been delivered. The only problem is that the woman in the post office did not put the addresses into her system so I can only tell which letter they belong to by looking at the delivery office. I'm looking forward to hearing from them (which certainly makes a change from a few weeks ago).

Well done myopic - 2/4 for just a little letter writing isn't bad is it?!

When I send anything I take a pen to the post office and write to addressee's name/company name at the top of the receipt to help me tell one from another :)

Good idea! I wich I had thought about that, but the first one they did had the address on it so I assumed that all the others would! Silly I know.

Only one bit of post today - but it is just a filing job. I feel a little disappointed .

I had better go and get on with my work otherwise I'll not be ready for the new term!

I received a letter from Capital One over the weekend saying that I had to choose between a short term and a long term payment plan, so I thought, great.

So I rang them and they are insisting on bank statements, 3 months worth, so I said no! I said I have been on a DMP with CCCS for 2 years, I have sent all of the paperwork to them and they have advised me not to send anything to my creditors and I do believe it is an invasion of privacy, even the courts don't ask for bank statements so No I will not be sending any statements. They said if I don't send them then they will not be able to set up a payment plan and my debt with be passes onto a DCA, I said ok thats fine, and then said thank you and goodbye.

It was scarey but I held my ground.

Do you think I should have just sent the statements? I really think it would be a bad idea as they will see things on there like 'amazon' and 'debenhams' etc and I just really feel it would do more damage, not to mention its personal anyway.

    Hi KC

Well done. Blue Jeans has also had an offer from capital one but didn't mention any particular catches. You were right to stand your ground - I believe there might be some sort of data protection clause which means they are not entitled to this information. I would suggest posting it on the DMP Mutual Support thread to see if any of the users on there are aware or have had similar experiences? Worth a try :) Sorry I can't be of more help xx Julie
