Barclaycard x 3 cards have rejeceted my offer saying it is too low and they will only deal with a 3rd party for a DMP. I have spoken to CCCS today and a lovely lady gave me a refernce number to quote on my letters. She said this usually helps and shows you are geting help even though I am trying to do it myself. The biggest problem is time so I am going to send the letters again quoting the number. I'll let you know how I get on. I am starting to hate BARCLAYS, after 23years banking with them they are the worst.0

Well done katchambers. Don't forget to post when you get your replies!:)
Hi working Mum. Barclaycard have not replied. I wrote a letter when HBOS inferred they would not negotiate directly with me. If you want I'll post a copy, just let me know.LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

Yes plese gargrave50. Had a row on the phone with Mint yesterday who tried to imply I had given them my phone number therefore they had every right to call me a zillion times a day. The guy finally gave in when I said I was going to report him to the OFT and to take my number off their list. It felt like a small victory especially when they had agreed in writing to my offer. It sure is an uphill battle and very wearing but I am determined not to be bullied by these people. Thanks for the support. xx0

Hi, sorry I was at a job interview in London yesterday so didn't get a chance to list the letter. Give me a few minutes, I'll go and do a bit of cutting and pasting!LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

Thank you for your letter of 24th July 2009, received today.
You will be aware that there is no legal requirement for me to utilise a debt management company such as CCCS or Payplan, and that I am entitled to negotiate directly with yourselves with regard to arranging repayment of the debt owed. As explained in my original correspondence, the pro-rata amounts offered to each of our creditors was calculated on a pro-rata basis by CCCS, as used by the county court. I have taken further advice from the national debtline advice line, who also assisted with the calculations.
Your letter alludes to the fact that a benefit of going to such advisors includes a reduction in interest and a stop to further charges being applied to the account. These benefits are decisions that your company can make regardless of whether you are approached by a debt management company on my behalf, or directly. As responsible lenders, I am sure you are aware that to continue to charge interest and apply charges would not assist in my present financial difficulties, and can only serve to increase my total debt. As you are aware, I have already paid considerable sums in interest to the account. If interest and further charges continue, the weekly payment I make will not even cover the interest and as a result, I will be unable to repay the debt owed to you. If interest is frozen and further charges are suspended, it is estimated that my total debt can be repaid in only XX months, as the £XX weekly payment will actually reduce the balance outstanding to your company.
The majority of our other creditors have agreed to the offer of payment and agreed to suspend any interest charges still accruing. I would therefore be grateful if you would reconsider the offer made to you of £XX per week. I believe that I have taken appropriate advice, and made an achievable and realistic offer of payment to your company, and look forward to receiving your response.
Yours faithfully,
I haven't actually had a response to this yet, so I don't know that it has got me anywhere but worth a try!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::DLBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

i am putting a list together of income and expenditure and working out pro rata payments with all my creditors. i have 8 creditors but i have found that with one creditor my minimum payment is 45 pcm but my pro rata payment works out to £59. do i pay this as it works out fair with all creitors or can i just pay the minimum of £45 and share the remaining £14 between my other creditors? what should be the first letter that i send to my creditors? thanks all advice welcome0

How did you find out the minimum payment was £45? If you can afford to pay more and this is a true pro rata payment then I would pay the higher amount you calculated. If you pay more than their "minimum" they may look more favourably on a request to freeze further interest and charges - and you can pay if off quicker:beer:LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free
