  • We have had to remove a number of recent posts due to unnecessary arguing and sniping. Our golden rule is Please Be Nice To Other MoneySavers and we would ask everyone to take a deep breath and remember this.

The Debt-Free Wannabe Board is one of our most helpful, friendly and productive. Let's not ruin that with this type of posting.

    I think I need to remind you all of this posting :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2

Guess what gang? My OH proposed to me tonight. It was so romantic. boiling hot evening, sipping Rose wine in the garden, then the next thing I know he's down on one knee.
Obviously I said yes - always wanted to get married and he's really gorgie!
anyone got tips for a cheap wedding?
I've already been on Ebay for my dress, but they just don't look that fab.

Congratulations! Why don't you start a thread for weddings and ask for savings tips there.

In the meantime, my advice is: limit your guest list as much as possible. It's easy to find a nice dress at a good price, and to do all sorts of other things cheaply, but the one thing that will drive you straight out of your budget is trying to please a whole bunch of people.

You totally rock babe. I'm not sure how to start a new thread actually. I'm a bit blonde! Well I'll take your advise, although I do have a lot of friends (mostly girls) who will be devistated if they don't get an invite. I'll keep you posted with my organising. Been a bit busy this weekend topping up my tan. Mwah xxx

Congratulations on the wedding, just dont ask us for prezzies as I hate to imagine what recycled thing you may get. :)

As for money saver, I got talking to someone who was collecting something off freecycle from me, turns out she is training to be a massuese and needs guinea pigs and I love a massage but not the £25-50 that goes with it, so I will go through the pain barrier as I have offered my services as the guinea pig, all to help her of course, I dont need a massage.......MUCH!

There already is one. Think it's on the relationships board. Called 'wedding tips start here.'

It would probably be helpful if general conversation could be posted in 'moneysavers arms', and this thread left for 'extreme money saving'..just a thought...

My mum once hit a pheasent <sp> in her car, as we lived in the country. There was then a great debate if we should take it home for tea !

I presume you meant to eat it for your tea and not take it home for sugary tea to recover from the shock of being hit by a car!!!
  • Very good!!!!!!!!!
  • I have, again, removed a number of posts from this thread which, despite my earlier post, continued the arguing and ill feeling.

This is the last time we will be as tolerant. If you have a problem with another member, please report to abuse@moneysavingexpert.com. If arguments and sniping continue in this manner after my post, those deemed to be the cause may have further action taken against them.

We hate reaching that stage, it's not something we wish to do, but we will take whatever steps we feel are necessary for the good of all members and the forum.
