some interesting, some gross tips in here, some I even do myself

couple that haven't been mentioned yet

    - save the jiffy bags that your sent-off-for freebies and occasionally paid-for items come in and use them again, I have about 40 various sized jiffy bags that I regularly reuse
    - save the jewel cases from freebie cd's/dvd's/game demos come in and reuse them for discs you burn yourselves

I almost always charge my phone at work - drink the tea & coffee at work and they provide free fresh-fruit too, so occasionaly I'll take a banana home

whenever I go to a cafe type place, I'll take a few of the sauces

four of my teaspoons and two of my ashtrashs originally came from woolworths cafe (sorry wollies)

always pick up change you see on the pavement (be discreet though, don't want to look like a total tramp)

take left behind today's papers - you see them everywhere

obvious things like always turn the lights off in areas you're not using, never leave the TV on standby

another one I do is turn off the oven off five minutes before everything is ready - it stays hot enough to finish the cooking

thinking about it, I should reuse my morning tea bags as I put the bag in a small glass so as not to make the bin fusty - I just empty this glass every two days when the bags have dried a bit

I cut my own hair with clippers - but as being blad this makes perfect sense

I got an extra couple hundred yards to local shops just to save say 12p on something that costs £2.50

sew up worn through pockets in jeans and trousers to get more life out of them

make sandwiches for my lunch at work, or sometimes take in a few slices of bread and a tin of beans (as we have a toaster and microwave at work) - six slices of bread and one can will do two days lunch

I buy 75% of my shopping at cheaper supermarkets like Netto as many of the products are indistinguishable from the more expensive ones

have a look in places like home bargains from time to time, you don't often get a true bargain from there but sometimes you can strike lucky - same with poundland, 90% of it is crap but sometimes...

check out all the sales in clothes shop, for example I got a good quality shirt and tie from burtons for just £8 a few days ago

make use of any and all discount vouchers you get (obvious)

I could go on, but I think I've posted enough now :)
  • I don't do this, but you can spot a real Londoner in the capital because most of them fare-dodge on the bus! When the enforcers come on they all rush to the Oyster card readers.

In four years I think I've spent over £1,000 on bus travel and had my ticket inspected four times - and the fines are only £20 (used to be £10). Some 'extreme moneysavers' just make sure they've got a twenty handy for the very rare occasion they'll need it.

Can't stoop to their level, though. Got a bike now.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Our library has really nice toilet roll. They stack it on top of the cistern (new rolls) I always take my nappy bag in and take a few. Like someone elses post here I also take Tesco's veg/fruit bags for use at home. Put the car into neutral when going down hill. I sit my daughter in the trolley and put grapes in the front with my other fruit/veg shopping and pretend not to notice her tucking into the grapes. Use water from the water butts to flush toilet got bill down to £10 per month, not bad for 3 children and 2 adults. Don't drive over 2rpm in the car to save fuel. Kids go to a morning club which has loads of food they tuck in and then we take loads home (which is given to us).
How on earth I got into debt is anyones guess. I think I have really become an expert penny pincher since the debt!!

If you ask at Tesco's Customer Services for a nappy saying you have forgotten to bring some with you they will give you one for free. Also if you see Emma's Diary in Dr's surgeries then complete the coupon with false info and then take it along to Boots to collect your free goody pack. I've been doing this for years. I've had free bottles of shampoo, free saples of washng powder/fabric softner, chocolates, body cream. Every pack is like a goody bag you got when you were a kid - full of surprises.
  • I KNOW how important it is to watch the pennys don't slip through my

diamond encrusted fingers! SO, one tip I don't mind sharing, though it's a

little bit personal.! I like to use the bog roll at college for cosmetic purposes,

that is, mopping grease off my skin, and if it's time of the month, why pay

precious pennys, that could be spent on a louis vuitton handbag, for being a

girl! So yeah, depending on the occasion.. you could roll up the tissue (into

whatever thickness required!) or if you don't have time for that just roll it up

and place in your favorite pants. Hope that's been of some help ; )

    Hey Peeps!
Nip into posh hotels and help yourself to their lush supply of magazines, soaps etc, and if you're lucky you might meet a rich man so you don't have to keep chattin on here! ;-P
Another great way of saving some pennies is to use fabric conditioner on your hair. it's the same thing only watered down. i saw that on This Morning. Not sure about the tissue tampax idea, if I'm desperate, I just pretend I've come on early, and someone always has a spare!

My mum once hit a pheasent <sp> in her car, as we lived in the country. There was then a great debate if we should take it home for tea !
That would have been illegal but you are allowed to pick them up if killed by other motorists, if you care to drive down the A11 in Norfolk you could pick up enough in an hour to last your family a life time.

I go into car dealers and help myself to car brochures. I use to sell them on ebay, but now everybody tries to get in on it so don't bother much now. The most I ever got was £37.00 for one another £35.00. Not money saving I know but it gave me money to save if you see what I mean.
