Have ebay ended their free listings??

  • Both - with ebay owning Paypal, they get you on both fronts.

I also get fed up with pious people saying I am OK - I have 100% feedback with no issues... Take a look on Youtube even to see some typical injustices about ebay buyers taking advantage.

Also to make small repeat sale items profitable, you have to list at 99p and charge a sensible price for postage - often more than ebay allows! Sometimes it insists certain category items have to be sent FREE postage!

If I buy something on Ideal World at it shows P&P at £7.99 or whatever, I don't buy it and then take out a small claims court summons for being misold or ripped-off once I receive the item... ebay buyers often do...

You don't have to sell at 99p though do you? You may have just given the reason why it doesn't always work for people, too many 'private' sellers all desperately trying to list for free at 99p and then being forced to add all their charges into the p and p- which inturn annoys many buyers into leaving poor feedback.

If you are a private seller and are just selling your old stuff to clear th ehouse- then still be realistic about what it is worth, and if you want more than 99p for it, then don't start at 99p.

If you are a business then use a better business model and work out the optimum start price.

Buyers can't take out claims for overcharged postage, but many marketplace sites work hard to keep prices down - eBay are only really following suit.

Amazon charge a fixed allowance for postage and Play make people list items delivery inclusive. Those are eBay's main competitors and that, coupled with the prompt dispatch both companies ask of their own sellers, makes buyers more demanding when they shop on eBay.

Plus if I bought something somewhere and was charged £7 postage, I'd think twice before going back to them - unless I got value for money, e.g. the item was sent by Special Delivery or the item was coming from overseas (e.g. a game I ordered two years ago came from a warehouse in Germany - I can't say I was happy paying £7 on a £10 game, but hey, I don't buy from that shop any more.
