Free Online Virus scan

HouseCall

Trend Micro's free online virus scan tool :) Even e-mail support is free but there isn't any phone support for it.

Also worth noting that their AV software can be downloaded for 30 days free trial and they support trial users too :)

Might be fine but I would avoid any website that offers to scan your hard drive for you. If anyone tries it post the results please.

Any reason you don't use them??? Online Virus scans like Trends and Symantecs etc (from reputable AV companies I hasten to add) only scan your system for files known to be viruses... They basically do what your AV software would do but can't be corrupted by a virus as they are stored on a secure system. They don't actually save any data from your system in case you were wondering :) That would be a breach of the Data protection and privacy acts :)

ah maybe I should add the downside to them :) They WON'T stop your machien being infected... they can only detect it AFTER the event... hence why they are no replacement for an AV software that is updated properly etc etc etc etc

all thos listed in the thread I posted are legit but the poster is sort of correct, there are certain "Spyware Scanners" that claim your PC are infected and ask for a fee, names like Spyware Axe, Spywarewarrior etc. These end up infecting your PC with a load of stuff
