Hi,
Can anyone suggest where my husband and I can go on holiday between 18-25th July?
It's the only time we're likely to be able to get away together this year but can't really afford to spend much money. Tried to book a working holiday with the National Trust but all their holidays for this time are fully booked either for men or women :-( Any other thoughts would be appreciated?

Do you want to stay in the UK or would you consider a cheap flight abroad? I guess it is going to be hard to find a good deal as that is the start of the school holidays. BTCV do similar things to the national trust. Have you tried a search for working holidays or something similar?0

What's your max budget?0

Would rather stay in the UK as my husband will have just spent a month in Finland for work (which is why we can't go on holiday earlier before the school holidays).
Don't really have a fixed max budget but I'd guess about £400 between us?
Also any suggestions on the cheapest way to get flights to Berlin?
Tried searching for working holidays, got lots of gap year sites. Thanks for BTCV - just had a look, but nothing available that week - may have to see if I can change my dates0 -
What about staying at a youth hostel? They're in beautiful areas and historic cities and many have twin rooms these days. If you can get a cheap flight somewhere the European hostels are often excellent as well.0

Flights to Berlin - Ryanair always seem to have sales on. I don't know if they fly from your local airport? If you do want to fly with them I would advise applying for an Electron card (mine is with Co-op who sorted it quickly for me). Just saved me £19 on a pair of return flights to Latvia for £20 so I'm chuffed at the moment.
Is there really no option to go on holiday later in the year? Late September maybe? Possibly during Freshers week if you don't have to be there. How about lots of weekends in the UK? I know it's not the same though.0 -

A couple of links for you.
Have you tried searching for volunteer holidays?0 -
Easyjet flies to Berlin and is often reasonable if you book well in advance and if it was there you were looking to holiday I reckon you could have a really good week on £400 as its quite cheap to eat, visit and get around (well it was when i lived there last year - not sure how it would fair now with the Euro etc)0

Even BA can be surprisingly reasonable on the Heathrow-Berlin route.
Or you could do it by train: there is a thread on the Overseas Travel board from someone who got an absurdly cheap train ticket to Berlin by booking in advance.0 -
Cornwall is great and you can rent a nice house for a week at decent prices if you shop around.0

You won't get too many cheap rentals in Cornwall in the school holidays. I assumed the £400 budget would have to cover transport as well, if not extra spending!0
