Epson printers tend to give very good print quality (though I'm not personally familiar with this particular model).
What I would caution about here, though, is cartridge prices. No point in buying a cheap printer if you're going to pay the difference in ink. With some printer brands, there's always the option of cheaper 3rd-party cartridges, or refilling old cartridges yourself.
But with Epson there's a problem with that approach, notwithstanding the many who claim they've had no problems with alternate inks. The thing is, with printers from HP, Lexmark, etc - the jets are in the cartridges. Clog the jets with unsuitable ink and the worst that usually happens is that you need fresh cartridges. But with Epson machines, the jets are built into the printer itself - clog them with unsuitable 3rd-party cartridges, or even original cartridges with refill inks - and you may end up with an expensive doorstop.
Your choice, but be warned. Personally I've always found HP to be the best mid-range printers. They take the wee-wee with cartridge prices, but then there's not a printer manufacturer who doesn't - pound for pound printer ink is priced higher than gold these days. But at least refill and/or alternate cartridges are a viable choice.0 -
Couldn't disagree more! I have now used Epson for years and have never used the Epson cartridges except the ones they provided at the start, and have never had a problem. As far as I am concerned, the generics are completely worth it, and even if it means you get the odd duff one, you just get rid of it and put another one in. It's Epson all the way for me! (except for the catridges, lol)0

I reserved the last Epson SX 100 at my local Argos yesterday and have just picked it up @ £29.34.
Went to (S)T(R)ESCO straight after and they are on offer there @ £29.48 until 28/04/09. They had about a dozen on display.0 -
I had to throw out our all singing dancing Epson as the inkhead cost a fortune to replace once it clogged with cheaper ink, whereas our old Canon could be removed, soaked in vodka and the head was as good as new again.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
Balance 19th April '07 = minus £27,640
Balance 1st November '09 = mortgage paid off with £1903 left over. Title deeds are now ours.0 -
