There was scam with cars on EBAY that uses bank transfer and it involved the buyer overpaying by mistake and claiming monies back.
But it needed the 'lots of money end price ' to be effective.
I would only be cautious if the deliver to address was in NIGERIA  .

I assume it's a UK transfer from a UK account? International bank transfers can be reversed in some instances. Although we've never had any problems.0

Sorry to bump this but I'm selling something on gum tree and was going to say they could pay by bank transfer. Is it still as safe? It's too much money I can afford to lose if it doesn't go right.
Thanks0 -
Yes just ensure, that the money is in your account. If you have internet banking this is dead easy, otherwise you might need to give your bank a call.
If for example you are with Barclays and so are the other party it is pretty much instant. If they are with another bank it might still take a day or so.0 -

Its completely safe to receive UK Bank Transfers.
BACS payments take 3 days to clear. Day 1 - sent from sellers account (they will see their account debited on this day) Day 2 - being prepared (outsourced), Day 3 - hits your Bank account.
Please always wait until day 4 just incase there is a recall on the payment. It can only be debited on the day it hits your account though, so it will be safe to send anything at this point. (Its worth just pointing out to the buyer that you need to wait until 4 days).
If the buyer has a Bank Account at the same Bank that you use then you will see the payment hit on Day 1 as its a slightly different process. My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I think you will be fine to send on day2, but may be worth double checking with your bank if this is the case.
I used to work for a Bank in the BACS Liaison & completely trust Bank Transfers as once they are in your account they can not be removed without your permission.
International payments are different - they are usually sent by SWIFT or CHAPS & can be reversed.0 -
I've received bank transfers instantly before, rather than waiting 3-4 days. Is this different from BACS?:j30/7/10:j
