Hi...again. Just to confirm am i looking for places around costa brava? Does anyone know if this is near the catalunya, main airport and the city? Thanks0

You can get cheap flights on Ryanair at moment, from Bournemouth, Luton and east midlands to girona for instance flights are £5 each way per person (pay with electron for no extra fees). Buses from girona to Lloret are approx 8 euros, loads to other places as well including Barcelona. There is a regular bus and train service to Barcelona from Lloret costing approx 9 euros. Hotels are probably cheaper than the city The"Costa Encantada" has self catering apartment for £155 for the date you want through "travel republic". Late rooms have "Guitart Capri" for approx £108 can't vouch for it though might be worth looking at reviews for hotels on trip advisor. The web address should give you everything you need for the area.

If you are wanting to stay in Barcelona then RyanAir to Gerona is a definate NO NO unless youd like a 1 and 1/2 hour bus ride when you get there.
If you fly into Gerona you need to be looking at Tossa De Mar, Loriet, Empuriabrava or Roses.
We found our appartment for a week there for only £200 for all 4 of us in Empuriabrava.
Depends what type of holiday you like, we just came back form Empuriabrava and had a very nice week there.
If you fly into ELPRAT Barcelona's main airport then Sitges is worth a look stayed there many times, self catering search google for sunway apartments
Or there are a couple of hotels ElCid and Galleon which are great value for money.
We love catalonia and have visited on numerous occations now we have travelled with Monarch and Jet 2 who we have found to be reasonable, and did the cheapy to Gerona with RyanAir last time with no problems.
Also transfers via public transport are much easier from ELPRAT than Gerona
If you need any further information on this (as me and my partner regularly travel to this area) we would be more than pleased to help you just reply to this thread

I don't think it is very close. Get a guidebook to Barcelona, then you can check out the map in there, and the map of the underground/ metro.
I personally do not mind an hour long bus journey at all, although if you can get a cheap easyjet flight, the central airport would be easier, and save you the bus fare, which was I think E16 return.
Tripadviser website might be able to help.0 -

Why not hire a car at the airport and look at staying north of barcelona, santa susana, lloret etc what you save in accommodation will prob pay for car.0

There are two options. One is to stay a little way out of Barcelona, preferably somewhere with a station - or rent a car - which may well be cheaper, could well be by the sea, etc or to stay in barcelona, as centrally as possible and enjoy the city vibe... or maybe even a combination of these two, but you will know what suits you best - go with that.0
