I'm in agreement with you. I think what motivates my OH is the misery he has seen me go through when charges have been whacked on and taken me over the limit or when I've paid charges on top of charges because they initially pushed me over...
Two months alone I calculated 500 quid. I used to go into the bank (Natwest here also) and there was an employee there who was trying to retrieve wrongfully charged charges.
She left unfortunately, but the last thing I remember her saying before she went was not to give up, to chase the bank because they really HAD taken liberties.
So now, I'm in two minds.
Yeah I see your point - how on earth can £38 per DD be reasonable when Barclays charge £8. Still - if they hadn't have been so greedy, maybe they wouldn't be writing off what they are having to write off of mine

Exactly! I used to run around like an idiot trying to find the money and not only that but ring in apologetic and try and explain and buy time etc and all for what?
Absolutely NO leeway. They charged me regardless of what I did and in the end, any surplus I had left over after salary and outgoings was being chomped by them!
I've been with Natwest YEARS and they were happy enough to throw money at me when they were making money out of me, but when I needed them to be understanding.
I got Nothing.
So, if I go ahead with this, I presume I would need to do it before I apply for BR?0 -

I am sorry but you won't be able to reclaim your bank charges. When you go BR your bank accounts belong to the OR, they are no longer yours. So if you did get any back the bank would send the cheque straight to the OR and you won't see a penny of it and wasted a lot of your time to boot.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

After trying to get through to NDL I gave up and went to CCCS. They were extremely helpful I have to say.
Usual process is as follows;- Initial contact where basic details are taken.
- Follow up call with Counsellor booked (can take upto 2 weeks for an app)
- Follow up call is in-depth and determines what your best course of action is.
But BR was offered as a possibility thank goodness!
Initially I tried to do it myself (online insolvency service) but, I'm afraid I'm a wussy and needed some guidance and CCCS have offered that, much to my relief!
Where I am currently is as follows:
CCCS are sending me all the bumph I need through the post, Though I thought she said it would be emailed to me(not sure what happened and why it wasn't emailed tbh)
In that pack will be a template letter that makes a token payment of 1 pound to my creditors. In my case 3 creditors will be receiving a pound each until I save the BR fees.
The BR fees for someone like me (on JSA) is 345 with the 150 court fees waivered.
I've nearly got the money together and end of the month, if we can manage it (unexpected bills suddenly arriving), I'm doing it asap.
The process is very fast once you have the money. (She said.)
You ring your local court and request a hearing date to petition for BR and the following form - EX160A which also doubles as your court fees waiver form (if I understood her correctly whether you are able to pay the court fees or not, it's the same form)
CCCS will also help you to complete your forms to take to court, should you need the help. God knows I do, so, I'm going to be ringing them back if we can afford for me to do this end of this month, and get the help.
I'm of a nervous disposition lol, so would like to know that all my paperwork is bang on, so all and any help is gratefully received! (thank you cccs and the denizens of this board! lol)
I just thought I'd update those that may have seen me post before and possibly help anyone in similar situ to me, that hasn't taken the step of deciding best course of action yet.
Thanks for reading:)0
