    Brilliant suggestion, thank you!

I made the decision to go BR few weeks back when I first came here (after my initial thread)
I've been utting it off and avoiding this now, for long enough. I want to go BR before I get the ugly letters and phone-calls from people.

Shame really, like lots here, whilst I was working I had great credit rating and while rubbish with money, I managed.
To lose a job and no other job yet, has meant, no way out. Despite this, I keep putting off having to do something that will save things in the long term.

    Back to it >>>>>

If they are secured on anything you would know about it. Bank overdrafts and credit cards are unsecured debts (unless you gave them a security when you took them out) but that would be very unusual indeed.

Student Loans are not covered by bankruptcies though so that would remain payable after you went bankrupt.

Thanks again, Seive. I'm being mush brained! I knew yet needed confirmation, I think?

May I offer my forms to you and YOU complete them for me? LOL

    No? Oh! Ok, then! :(

Haha you're welcome to - I take payment in kind (can't take payment in cash or I'll have to tell my official receiver hehehe!) :)

Payment in kind, eh? Not sure I have much to offer you. I can clean like a demon, if that's of interest?
    I also cook quite well?lol

Another question for any takers. My OH keeps on at me to do that letter to reclaim bank charges?
Is this something I should do as a matter of priority, or is going BR more important?

Is it possible to do the bank charges thingy Post BR?

Cleaning works for me!! Anything to avoid the scurge of dusting :)

If you are going BR there are various different ethical viewpoints on reclaiming bank charges. I am of the opinion that if you are asking the bank to write off your debts, it's not right to pursue them afterwards for bank charges which may or may not have been rightly levied.

I've had about £1500+ of bank charges taken off me by NatWest in the last 18 months and it's one of the debts I am including in my BR. There's no way I would go after them for £1500 after I've asked them to write off £10k ish that I can't afford to pay them back.

Legally, you may be able to. But I wouldn't. Take the fresh start and relish it by not dwelling on things that have happened in the past.

I'm in agreement with you. I think what motivates my OH is the misery he has seen me go through when charges have been whacked on and taken me over the limit or when I've paid charges on top of charges because they initially pushed me over...

Two months alone I calculated 500 quid. I used to go into the bank (Natwest here also) and there was an employee there who was trying to retrieve wrongfully charged charges.
She left unfortunately, but the last thing I remember her saying before she went was not to give up, to chase the bank because they really HAD taken liberties.

So now, I'm in two minds.
