How long is your chain?

For those buying/selling at the moment, how long is the chain you are in? And what timescale expectations do you have?
For example, the chain I am in is as follows:
FTB, me, buyer/seller, buyer/seller, ? We don't know where the end of the chain is and my FTB wants to complete by middle of June. It is not looking too good and I think somebody (no me) needs to break the chain. I am getting twitchy. What do you think?

Is the chain not complete? Find out from your agent to make sure, they can find out from the other agents in the chain.
Sometimes they are really long!Pawpurrs x0 -
If your EA is any good they should know EVERY link of the chain from top to bottom otherwise how else can they chase up whichever parts of the chain they need? To to resolve issues that may and will arise.

When did you accept the offer of your FTB?0
-
Hi
I accepted the offer from the FTB on 9 March.
I spoke to EA yesterday and last person we know of at the end of the chain did a second viewing on a house last night and has led the EA to believe that there is no upward chain on the house that he has viewed so at the moment my chain looks like this.
FTB, me, buyer/seller, buyer/seller, seller.
So, not too bad, assuming the EA is telling the truth. I will find out for sure later this afternoon. If this isn't the end of the chain then we will have to decide this weekend whether we are going to ask the people we are buying from to break the chain or break it ourselves.0 -
We are the chain yet still seems to be taking ages!. FTB's have bought my house and the house we have bought is empty. Still not exchanged contracts but hoping we will by end of week. I live on my nerves in this tiny chain really feel for those with big chains!0

Be careful last thing you want is to keep the FTB waiting around. Prices are dropping every month and the last thing you want is them pointing that out 2 months down the line when they are trying to renegotiate the price down a few k0

We're in exactly the same position hostiegirl. Exchange supposed to be on Friday though there is still a little uncertainty. It's taken two months from offers accepted to get to this point with just two properties involved.0

Hi, Update
EA just phoned to say that he is unsure that he can get the buyer/seller at the end to commit to middle of June completion, whether they are buying or going into rented. So have told EA that he must ask the people we are buying from to break the chain because if they don't then I will. I have still got two choices, either I go after a house with no chain (and there is one I like that will be empty by mid May) or I will go into rented. He nearly pooped his drawers and is calling me back later.
This is nail biting stuff I tell ya0 -
That's it!
I've chucked my teddy out the pram.
I have told my EA to tell my buyers that we will be exchanging contracts no later that end of May and completing no later than middle of June, by hook or by crook.
I have told the EA for the people that I am buying from that if they don't exchange contracts by the end of May then I am withdrawing my offer and I will go into rented accomodation.
I have had to do this because no one on the upward chain would make a decision and I can't afford to lose my buyer or be homeless (with a dog, two cats, spotty teenager and husband).
Now I don't know where I am going to live:o0 -
