Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: For legal reasons I have to discourage swapping, buying and selling on the forum (please see this rule). While it can be a very useful way of saving money it relies on a certain amount of trust between members and as such can cause problems (and has in the past). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

If you put it on Ebay or Ebid, do a very detailed, bullet-pointed listing. Take photo of the thing powered up. Also note any serial numbers, markings, etc (take a close up photo of serial numbers, markings, etc).

Sell to UK mainland only. Sell only to people with rating of 10 or more. Most people are honest.

Remember that you'll loose over 10% of the sale price to fees (inc paypal), so consider lowering the price charged in other places for a straight cash sale outside of ebay.

Loot, gumtree, notice boards as well as any other forums you may use, I'm on a few car forums and have sold unwanted electrical items on there.

Gumtree is a great option for selling local ...only problem though is if the buyer isn't happy with your laptop he/she may try to bring it back?
