Nokia Music Shop Problems For Ex MSN Customer

Sadly MSN Music Dowloads has closed down, taken over by Nokia who have now launched the Nokia Music Shop for PC. As an ex customer I received an e-mail from Nokia inviting me register with them. As they had taken over all of MSNs extensive titles I decided to join them. I wish it were that simple.

Every time I try to install the software I get the message 'FAILED: NETWORK ERROR'. I use a laptop running Vista Home Premium, I have also tried my PC running XP Pro all with the same results. I even tried to download the US, Italian and Spanish versions of the software but the outcome was the same.

I have posted on the Nokia forum and it seems I am not alone with this problem. Has anyone here had a similar experience or can advise?

I have received an e-mail from Nokia Tech regarding the problem, it states;


'There is a fault with Nokia Music for PC and Vista SP 1. When signing in or registering, Nokia Music will display the error message "Nokia Music has stopped working" and then close. This will be fixed in next release of Nokia Music, but until then a patch need to be downloaded and installed.

The patch is available for download through this link:

I thought my troubles were over but once you attempt to install the patch you receive a message which tell you the program which the patch refers is not installed! So I now have the software to correct a fault but I cannot do so as the fault is that I cannot download the original program.

So at least we have found out that there is a problem with the Music For PC software which will be corrected when the next version is released. Nokia has confirmed that they have no idea as to when that will be.

So until then I will continue to use other download shops. I wonder how much business Nokia are going to lose? Are they bothered? I doubt it.
