  • i've just discovered curly kale in the supermarket and i love it, it is a lil pricey and would like to grow my own. I do not have a great deal of space though, do i scatter a few seeds and its grows like salad leaves, or doe 1 seed make one large plant, if so what size should i expect it to grow :o
    thanks

If you have less space, some variety of chard may be better.

  • I agree with other posters about the taste of kale and it being the only green vegetable around at this time of year. The curly kale and the leeks were the only things in my garden to survive the rabbits and the winter weather this year. A few years ago you could get many varieties of kale - Hungry Gap, Pentland Brig, thousand head etc, but now most seed catalogues just have curly. I have got some seed for red curly kale (Morrisons sometines have this) and the black variety. Just hope they taste better than the green variety!
