Oooh so mean!!! i like Kale ...it's abit like a cross bettween spinach and cabbage.. has the same sort of irony taste as spinach but has abit more bite. If you like things like spinach you'll mostly likely like it.0 -

We like Kale (2 adults and 2 children).. we use it in bubble and squeak, or like cabbage or in a stirfry.. It is a good "hungry gap" veg from about feb/mar-may so is also worth considering if you want to try and keep the garden productive all year round0

I was going to say about the hungry gap as well, there ain't much else about at that time, apart from frozen stuff, so as a bit of fresh, it's a good choice.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

I like kale okay. Like others have mentioned, it's a lot to do with the 'hungry gap' and if I'm honest I do plump for almost any other veg first. Pick the young tender leaves and make sure they're cooked properly!
Kale is a pretty good veg for newer growers. It rarely gets sick, even from club-root, they aren't too fussed by whatever weather gets thrown their way, and most of the pests ignore it - even slugs and pigeons! You can get some really pretty varieties and the thrill of growing something not readily available in most supermarkets. I think most new growers should give it a shot once, even if they decide it's disgusting and they never want to grow it again...0 -
well......... I HATE spinach and dont like cabbage so this kale does not have a happy & successful career ahead, does it!!

I got it because it was in a list of veggies that will grow anywhere and yes plug the gap -- plus my dad used to say they were brought up on it and in a family of 10 children, 9 of them lived to their 80s so it must be good for something !
It's seeds, Siberian Kale. I shoved some in a tub n the windowsill to see what it was like....I might as well shove the rest in and then transplant them outside. TY gardeners !0 -
Once it has germinated put the pots outside, they won't like being on a hot windowsill.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
