Thanks Ras I will have a good look through and see where I can make some further savings.

With regards to selling stuff, I have been doing that for the last 3 years and have pretty much run out of stuff.

Yes I have paid penalty fees on my HSBC account, hence it's in arreas. I dont have any paperwork for it though. It was a loan, but shows on my credit file as a current account, i think because they were linked and they closed my account. I'm on my 3rd Welcome Loan, had PPI on all 3, the current one is post 04/09 and one i claimed on when made redundant.

With regards to credit cards, in the last 8 months I have been refused for Vanquish and Halifax who I have a current account with. Oh and got refused Aqua early last year. I defaulted on a cap one card a few years ago so havent been back to them since. Are there other cards I can try?

I went to Welcome as I havent been able to get credit anywhere else for years, started off a small loan to get a car and snowballed, they've always given me credit and have treated me well. I had no where else to go. I was very irresponsible with my money when i left uni, sadly i cant change that now.

I want to protect my credit rating because I am close to defaults coming off of it and I want to be in a position where I can get good credit if I need it and also want to look at getting a mortgage in the not to distant future.

I am on the elctoral role and will have been in my flat for 3 years on June 10th, have been in my job 3 1/2 years. Experian show me as being linked to my brothers old address with Vodafone and Cap 1, I challenged it and they put a notice on my file but the companies wouldnt take it off so they removed the notice.

    Thanks for all your help!

If you access your credit record, this should disclose any credit account in the last 6 years. You need your name and address to put in a Subject Access Request. They may ask for more info and in this instance you may be prepared to give it.

BUt if you can reclaim charges plus 8% interest go for it.

So things may improve on that front by June?

    Thanks Ras.

Ok so I get paid on Friday and am gonna check my credit file and then send the SOR letter so that I can see if I can reclaim.

I have 2 years to hold out, so if I can shuffle things and have more manageable payments without defaulting then I can start to rebuild my credit score properly.

How much does that improve things having been at the address for 3 years?

If anyone has any advice on the linked address, please let me know!

    Thanks!

    Monthly income after tax................ 1491

Why is this so low? I earn £1000 less than you and bring home an extra £150 a month? And thats after my pension has come out. Your take home should be about £1741 on that salary?

If you are on £27.5K, each 4 weeks net should be £1,607.59 less student loan. That is from April 6th onwards.

you can defer student loan payments if you are not earning more than £2161 gross per month, I just got my deferment letter this morning, don't know if this is the case with you or not
