D'oh!
Did none of you actually read the original post? He travels by train once a fortnight. Obviously he can use the vouchers.
Intelligence isn't your strong point I presume.0 -
I hope the vouchers covered an element of cost for having to compose and send a letter etc. I would also expect an element of goodwill in the payment too.0

No, I'm very happy with the vouchers - I will use them against his next ticket.0 -
Well done on the outcome OP, and for updating people.
I didn't post this at the time, but did wonder why your son, as 16 year old, couldn't buy his own tickets. Obviously the machine had gone this time, but surely on the journeys before he was capable of buying his own?
Well, terryya, yes he is 16 and perfectly capable of buying his own ticket were there a machine there to buy it from, but I like to walk round to the station with him and see him on to the correct train as he is fairly new to travelling alone and (being a teenager) is in a bit of a dream a lot of the time so could quite conceivably get on the wrong one!

what if he finds that taking the coach would save him more than the £10 value of that voucher.
Or maybe there's going to be a special offer of 75% off the normal price of his train journey, but here's the fine print for that offer....."Offer applicable for a limited time only. Offer valid from 22/04/09 - 11/05/09. Reservations are final and require full prepayment for the entire journey at the time of booking. Full prepayment is non cancellable, non changeable and non refundable. Prepayment is charged in full to your credit card at the time of booking. No refunds will be made on day of departure. All bookings are subject to availability, with a limited number of seats available at these rates. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, voucher or special promotion."0
