I'll have to do it as I'm not changing my salary to be paid into it...
I just had to beg my mortgage company not to apply a charge for late payment as my DD didn't get switched over in time.... I don't think they'll forgive me a 2nd time

Well my switching process went well.

All D/D's went over to A/L and my £100 has been paid. Only intend to use the account online and will use my local Lloyds branch and cheque account for paying in cash / cheques.

The website is easy to use and transfers from various accounts I hold have been quick.

So far so good is my opinion.
It's far better to be penny wise than pound foolish.

I switched to A&L last time they were running this deal, their switching process was a bit of a nightmare - I ended up paying one of my standing orders twice because A&L paid it and so did my old bank. Not entirely sure which bank was at fault but as A&L were sorting the switching I blame them. Luckily for me the standing order was only going to my ISA, but it did mean I had to transfer money out of it cos I couldn't afford to pay 2 months in 1 go.

The amount of times I had to mess around transferring £500 a month in til I got the £100 was a pain as well, especially with the time it takes to clear.

In short, I wouldn't bother unless you have a few hundred pounds you can afford to transfer around accounts while they're taking their time switching things.
