i wish the ultrasonic worked on are rats we have two pluged in they make no differance.I have had to call the council again today we had them last year when this prob started they just put bait down ,this time they are going to do a survey I told them we had this done with a private pest control and about all the other things we have done ,i was really ringing them to find out where to get help. The only thing left is for them to do there own survey they arn't going to charge i think they felt sorry for me i was in tears i can tell you i felt a right idiot.I just couldn't help it my neice and nephew who are living in property and starting to suffer ill health from not getting any sleep and i am really stressed with the worry of it
Are above problem is still going on i was quite shocked to realise it's nearly two years. The council came out again to do a so called survey ,well what a joke he stood on a ladder stuck his head in loft then opened back door and looked out and that was a survey:eek: We have just had a builder out again to check nextdoor thinking they may have some holes .No such luck couldnt find anything does anybody know if the council have any obligations to help us with this i couldnt find anything online .We really desperate just dont know what to do .0 -
Hi Mrsr, I don't know what to suggest so I can only sympathise with your problem. Would it be worth contacting another pest control company? The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420

Just thought I add this quickly . ihave not read what everyone else have posted.
Been getting mice/rats on and off for a while now. We got mice control in and they put down poison and advised us to seal all our food in the pantry. I bought a selection of different size containers from Staples in the really useful range. All out boxes and plastic bag foods are now in sealed plastic boxes. We blocked all entry holes into the house.
It has not been ages since we have had a mice/rat. Before we would know that they had been in because a whole load of our food had been eating and we had to throw away lots because of this. I think that if they do find a way into our home then there is noting make them want to hand about as there is no food that they can get to.
So far so good with not mice/rats..“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson

after a few months without any signs, I came home from work last night to a nervous wife. Whilst she was watching tv, theres a mouse playing i-spy with her in the living room. so i did a quick check of the traps & found another one that had just been caught. obviously -18c outside is not to there liking. ah well, heres to the next round of hide and seek....My £2 savings total for 2007 = £92, for 2008 = £124
My savings from money off coupons for 2007 = £67.97, for 2008 = £194.79
My £2 savings for 2009 (so far) = £130
My savings from money off coupons for 2009 = £593.08

I had rats once,
I found one dead in my toilet.
i caught some of them in a tall bin by simply putting food in the bottom of it. In the morning I had 3 rats in the bottom waiting to be set free. I drove them out 15 miles to a field and let them go.
Unfortunately they must of been babies that couldnt jump high enough as I still had a rat problem and eventually got the council in to poison them. This did work but I must say that if you live somewhere quiet, then prepare for some horrible squeals as they die a painful deathI also never found their bodies.
Other humane traps didnt work, they arent stupid it seems0 -
Our local council offers a treatment for the infestation of mice. It is a free of charge treatment for domestic properties.
Good luckI run because I like BEER.....0 -
If you ever have problems with moles, the best way to get rid of them is to bury them alive0

Well it's been a few weeks now and I've not seen any evidence of the little blighters. I didn't call out pest control but I did block most of the gaps I found with wire wool: the main areas being the pipes at the back of the fridge and washing machine.
I'll seal any gaps between skirting board and floor with sealant, fine-tune the wire wool areas and keep checking periodically. My brother gave me an electronic mouse repellant but I'm not convinced it's added any protection to what I already have in place, but I'm loathe to remove it til I've used the sealant and wire :rolleyes:The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. hey everyone... i'm living in a privately rented third floor flat and we've never had any problems with mice until last night, when one of my flatmates saw a mouse in the bathroom (?!) at 3.30am. we had a problem with flies when we moved it, but that was sorted really easily.
the weird thing is - we don't get why it was in the bathroom? and we've not seen any mouse droppings or anything. i've been through all the cupboards and can't find anything that's been chewed etc -- all our food is either sealed or dry (like pasta) so we're a bit mystified as to how they got here.
i've bleached the kitchen from almost head to toe, and i'm about to take to the bathroom - but can anyone give me any advice on what to look for/do? there aren't any holes in any of the walls/skirting boards either, as far as we can see. there's a hole in the kitchen cupboard under the sink (where old piping used to be we think), but as far as we know that's been there for years with no problems.
also... i live above a pub, does anyone know if this affects the situation re: health/safety and what we have to do?Comping since August 2022

I have been hearing something running around the loft lately at night. Today we pulled back all the insulation and found a nest made up of things from outside like tissues and dead leaves. Further down from this seemed to be a half eaten mouse.....
There was lots of poo but not in the nest, to the side.
Does anyone know how to tell the difference between a rats nest and a mouse nest?0
