Good luck.
I expect free insulation will be a lot easier to sort than keeping out the mice.:D0 -
we live in the sticks and get mice I the loft every winter,
one year we trapped 25,
Ive looked and looked to find how they get in but have never stopped them
we put down traps every year
we did use one of the ultrasonic scarers it did work but on the we had you did not know when it was broken, it had no lights on it
so it may be a yearly thing with your mice problem,0 -

Good luck getting rid of the mice. I couldn't and have had to redo the insulation since.
I was thinking of getting them to take it away, but as I want a weekend at least between it being an empty loft to get rid of all signs of mice and then apply the mice mesh for them to fill up to, so not sure where I could leave while I do that.
Sorry to hear it didn't work for you, did you get it done twice for free then?0 -

Trying that, but don't know where they are getting in, think it might be via the cavity wall air bricks, so thousands of possible entrance points!0 -
I had mice in my last house .They came in via the air bricks"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

At the moment they haven't got into the house as far as we can tell, just the garage and loft.
Having rabbits in the back of the garage certainly hasn't helped us about them!
However, we've seen areas in the loft between the walls and the ceiling, ie behind the co coving that is approx 1cm deep in poo..., which was just above the fireplace.Hoovered it out and trying to monitor for new arrivals.... A thermal camera is quite helpful as well!0 -
I don't think taking away the old insulation will get rid of the mice. When you take the insulation up they're just going to run away and hide in a corner until you've gone. Then come out and live in the new stuff.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

No, I had to do it myself. Luckily, it was back when the rolls were subsidised at £3 each.
I've still got bloody mice though. My wife brought this monster down one day too...
His mate made a hasty retreat and hasn't been back.0
