Sounds to me like you would be happier letting things go without a fuss and just having a rant to get it off your chest! If this is what you feel happiest with then just go with the flow. Look on the bright side - how much more pleasent is life going to be in a few weeks when you don't have to live with him under your roof:j
If it was me however, I would get the last of his rent off him upfront, pack all his stuff into his car when he is out, change the locks on the door and then shove a bag of sugar in the petrol tank of his car - he should get a few yards down the road before it Konks out:D
O.K. I probably wouldn't really do this (or would I:cool: ) but thinking about it would make me feel a whole lot better!!!0 -

In any way it isn't your fault, maybe his parents should have given him a reality check instead of molly-coddling him-please don't make excuses for him, yes the money will be handy, stress and angst are not. you'll have to weigh up the pros and cons-if the cash outweighs the aggravation or vice versa
I'm sure he'll get a reality check over the next few years.0 -
Honestly, he is NOT a mate! Friends do NOT take advantage of you like that. There is NO excuse. Tell him to get out now, or pay rent upfront for the rest of his intended stay! You and your BF are obviously saints. It is a shame that such idiots take advantage of nice people like you, but obviously they do. I used to be equally nice, but not quite so much now
(though my OH says I am still a mug in some areas!) I think his parents need their brains checked out as well to have encouraged him to be like this !!!

Well, good news. This morning I changed my FB status to "is peeved at a so called "mate" taking the mick at every opportunity."
I didn't go into details, and haven't spoken to anyone about it (I posted here because it was safe for me to vent without him ever knowing). Anyway, I get a text from him basically saying that my FB status had hurt him and that he feels really upset and hurt that I feel he could do anything to screw anyone over intentionally.
He'd been on the phone to the other half to ask if it was aimed at him (guilty conscious?) and the other half pointed things out to him. Anyway, he's paying the last 2 weeks rent and will sort the door later. I just pointed out that we were a bit hacked off about the whole dent/door situation, especially with all the moving costs coming up. I also pointed out that my FB status didn't give who's, why's or where's, what's, just that I was hacked off. In any case I'm glad I did because it's meant that he's paying up for the last two week's rent and will pay for the door (and we'll sort his small dent which I've got quotes for for £60 today, a lot less than him trying to claim £150).Wk1-3: Find house, offer accepted, apply mortgage
Wk4: Mortgage offered
Wk5-9: Solicitors dragging things
Wk12: Complete(when we get there!)0
