Matsui washing machine could be bust again

Options
Purchased 1st March 2008 from Currys.
We've got the £2-89 per month option so anything wrong with it is covered

16 Sept 2008 - Engineer called out as both lights flashing which signalled motor failure (according to manual). Engineer couldn't find anything wrong, blamed a minor power surge.

16 February 2009 - Engineer called out, both lights flashing again. This time, machine turned off and on and set away again for about 6 times in 6 hours trying to get a load of washing finished. New Module installed.

30 March 2009 (today) - Been downstairs and lights are flashing again. Switched it off, then back on again and set it away again. So far so good.

Model number is MWM145W.
Does there seem to be a problem with this model number ?
Can't find anything online unless I'm looking in the wrong place.

1 April - Bloke came to look at machine. After an hour, it went flashing lights again and he agreed motor failure (like I'd been saying right from 16 Sept 2008). Said it would be either repair job or new washing machine

7 April - Bloke came to repair washing machine. He put in a new motor and a new module (electrics bit)

It's been treat with kindness, only done 2 loads of washing.

12 April (yesterday) - Put one load of washing in. Walked downstairs (90 mins later) thinking washing machine was quiet and was greeted with the same 2 flashing lights again. It always seems to stop when it's full of water and ready to drain.

13 April (today) - Washing machine on at 7-35am to see if it's corrected itself, just checked it now and it's gone again

You have a claim under the 21 day rule of your whateverhappens policy.

Call the engineers number and tell them you have whateverhappens policy and would like to claim for a repair taking over 21 days of the job originating 30th March.

Any problems call the whateverhappens line (option 7 I think) and speak to customer services and explain it to them and ask them to deal with it.

You DW should be written off and product replacement vouchers sent out

    Hiya and thanks.

The engineer sent a report off, someone got back to him requesting some readings, he came on tuesday and took the readings and said someone will get back to me shortly.

It works fine on a number 7 (quick wash cycle) so having to use that for now. I'll be chasing them up on monday to find out what's going on.

They've wrote the washing machine off and are sending us vouchers to the value of £220 to go towards a new one.

I've just been looking at the Currys website (as that is where we bought it from) and there is only two washing machines for that price

    BEKO
    WM5100W White
    1000 Spin Washing Machine
    Currys Price
    £177.99
    monthly product support
    £2.99
    Standard Delivery £19.52

    Indesit
    WIB111 White
    1100 Spin Washing Machine
    Currys Price
    £219.95
    monthly product support
    £4.49
    Standard Delivery £19.52

    Both are A A C rated

    The Matsui was an A A B, 1400rpm and only cost £190.

The Matsui is a very reliable and feature packed machine for the price. I have known very few of them go wrong.

And no I dont work for Currys.....not anymore anyway.

Splash out and buy a machine with at least a half decent name.

I had a Hotpoint which chugged away for 5 years, and still does now - and it's only had the door seal changed.

    I'm on a Bosch now.

    Thanks x 10 at least.

Corr thats a nice machine (and the engineer won't be able to complain at not knowing what the problem is cos it got digital display!)

Found the same Hotpoint for same price in Currys so with staff discount (other half) will be brilliant
