Just hope his employer understands why these were worth more than turning in on time :eek:Cheryl0 -
:rotfl:my OH is EXACTLY the same Shaz - we brought a front door all the way back from a skip in Brighton because it was cheaper than getting one like it. He's loves skip diving, we've had some great things!

 You're looking to move house? After all your work on the front garden and the planters and the patio and the front garden and the raised beds and the veggies and the front garden? :rotfl: (Can you tell I like your front garden?) Maybe we should all pool our resources and go for a full estate. My resources would just about cover umm... the gate into it. :rotfl:
Hello everyone, I keep getting distracted today but have managed to get all my post etc up to date. It's raining again, so washing is still trying to dry on the airer but the amount of baking/cooking that's been going on means the cooker has been on a great deal of the time, so it's heating the kitchen.I've frozen the spicy wedges I made last night, packed away the ginger snap biscuits, bagged up the oat biscuits, iced & sprinkled the sponges, defrosted cream for the meringues, frozen the mash and now have a cottage pie to make for tonight's dinner. The electricity always takesd a hammering from cooking and the freezer will never be emptied at this rate, but what can I do?
(OK, OK, I could ban all biscuits and cakes in the house, but we need to have SOME enjoyment in life!:p)
It's DS' day off today and he's just discovered he has a flat tyre on his car, so he's not amused, especially as he's meant to be going away this weekend and then off on a training thingy next week. It's going to be one of these 'money, money, money' weeks for him; I just got his road tax online and he'd to pay an extra £2.50 because I used my credit card rather than his debit card. (He pays me back on pay day.)
Annoyingly, the sun is shining despite the showers of rain but it isn't dry enough to get the washing out onto the line. It's hanging everywhere at the moment, so I'm refusing to do any more until after the weekend. The rain is having a drastic effect on the greenery in the garden, I can't believe how much the hedge has sprouted after trimming it just last week. Guess what other job has been added to my 'to do' list for the coming weekend if it's dry?
Anyone else expecting their C0-0p dividend? My email arrived recently saying I was due a payment, so I keep checking the bank to see how much it is, despite hardly having been in the C0 for the past 6 months. Anything will help as, like Bails, I'm starting to hit targets for specific savings pots. :j Still a long way to go on my cash neutral part of my challenge but it's only Day 170 out of 365 so I'm quietly confident that I can reach that one.
Anyone heard how Mumzy is getting along with her pregnancy? Do we have an expected date yet?
Edited in: Just got my Freecycle updates and someone in town is offering a Freeview box. I've emailed them straight back and have everything crossed that they still have it available for rehoming, as it would be really helpful and very frugal.
Another edited in - SM, we can save on the 'leccie' from hitching lawnmowers and strimmers up to extension cables for doing the grass outside the garages, lovely farmer chappie is out there now topping it all with tractor thingy.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Didn't know C0-0p divvies were due out, so will be a nice surprise if something drops through my letter box :T I didn't give them bank details to pay it in to my account (would just get 'lost' if they did that), so my last payment came as vouchers to use in store (like the Mr T ones). Actually suits me better than the cheques I used to get since I no longer make daily trips to work, as it takes a special run out to put cheques into the bank !!Cheryl0

Nyk- i will only move if it is to a more rurally area than here (was a village now more a suburb) and if i can keep chickens and have an orchard and a bigger more well laid out veg garden plus some space for ds to play.............hmm i want a lot for 130k..lol
this is where i went

it's about 10 miles from here but the garden was much smaller than it looked
I have found a nice property for 99k with a 200ft garden but its in the town on a main road ...................
keeping looking and dreaming

Hi Shaz
It's surprising what you can still find for under 100k but, sadly, it's still closer to three times what a basic wage earner could afford. We went to look at this one, which is next to the one we tried to buy last year (the fixy-up over the river with no bridge) but, like you, want to have plenty of garden space, plus would prefer not to be mid-terraced. I'm still on my quest for mortgage & rent free living, but not making much progress at the moment. Hopefully, I now have a landlord who won't mind us staying indefinitely. I could happily stay here for a long time

Nyk -I would happily give up more adventurous ideas and be content to stay there indefinately too,I think it has enough space to do adequate veggie growing, chicken keeping etc - I think it is a good trade off given the location - you can't have everything I suppose.
Just had new catalogue from one of seed/plant suppliers with the winter ranges in so will be plotting more beds for my garden and seeing what can be planted for early cropping next year;)
I have just been visiting my parents, taking dad's fathers day gift and spending some time with him, and also liberating a couple of plants from mum's garden to start adding some colour to mine, free plants are good
cw - One of my savings acount societies are merging with the cooperative and we are all being enrolled as divi members - not sure yet how the points rack up but could be interesting. I need to get a card anyway as it is one of the local shops so may as well have one for any spending I do.0
