Hi,
I'm off to Edinburgh this weekend and was just wondering if there was any must sees or must misses.
I'm going to the centre ish, is Princes St repaired and all sorted or still a mess?
I need central location parking for the weekend if poss.
I'm a long time lurker that has gained so much info from here and am grateful, got a few print outs of good vouchers for meals.
Many Thanks in advance for your help.

Must sees for me are the castle, royal mile, gardens. If you go to the Scotland board there are loads of threads with ideas on there.
Princes street is still a disaster! If you want central parking, your looking at £2 per hour on surrounding streets to Princes Street, or go to the St James car park, multi storey - not as dear or the omni centre/greenside car park.
I'll have a look for the threads from which you will get better ideas. xx0/2013

Hi
You can check out the latest tram situation (and its delays!) here edinburghtrams.com (sorry won't let me link as I am a new poster - just copy and paste) There is a car park (maybe NCP) on Castle Terrace - 2 min walk Princes Street. Don't know the price as don't drive
Maybe it's one previous poster mentioned?
What to see - beautiful buildings, the centre (apart from tramwork) the museums is great and free ,the zoo, our Dynamic Earth, royal mile. Depends on your likes and age.
Have fun!0 -
The Scottish Parliament is worth a visit. Parking is terrible so take one of the city bus tours, you'll see a lot more on a short stay in the city." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Do not park at Castle Terrace, it is extorionate! You'll pay a fortune over the weekend. Maybe worthwhile, parking in Meadowbank shopping centre car park for free and take a bus in. Will save you a load of money. Also, if you go to the Scotland section the first thread is all about things to do in Edinburgh xx0/2013

If you're staying outside Edinburgh - use a Park-and-Ride (there are several).
If you're staying in Edinburgh - leave the car and get the bus.
The buses are quite cheap and reasonably frequent.

Hearts are playing Kilmarnock at home with tickets still available. Walking distance from the centre or a short bus/taxi ride!0

I would say go and climb up the Scott monument. Its a good view at the top. Very high and it is very small when you get up the top. But enjoyable.
Also I would say go and see camera obscura. Its got lots of things to look at and then there is the main bit on the top the camera.
