HELP phone/broadband package? Connection/New line fees?

Hello
Sorry for the double posting, but I'm not sure where to post this to.
I need some basic advice. I’m moving to my new home in less than 2 weeks. There is a dead phone line that was with BT.
I’ll need a landline phone and broadband. I have read the main site articles and some of the posts on this forum. I did the samknows postcode check. It shows there is no cable available in the area.
It looks like Talktalk do a good offer (ending today) at £227.94 for 18 months plus £29.99 connection fee. Is that a good deal? Do I need to pay for a new line? They charge £49.99 compared to BT’s £129.99. I’m a bit confused….The physical line to the house is there, so do I need to pay for this? Also, are there any better deals? Should I wait or do the deal today?
Thanks a lot.
Martin.

If there's already a line, just with no service, there's probably not going to be a charge to have it reconnected.
What exchange are you on? There's got to be a better ISP available than talktalk. I guess it depends whether you're more interested in price or quality of internet connection, but if you let us know what you're after, whether you're a downloader or just a browser, if you watch tv online or whatever, we'll be able to tell you. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
If the BT line and master socket are there and physically intact, you probably won't be charged the full reconnection charge, as no engineeer is required onsite. However you will have to take BT line rental for 12 months-they're not going to reconnect you free so you can take your line to TalkTalk. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanx guys.
I've chosen O2 as my provider. I have to get my line activated and BT want £122.33 as they claim an engineer is required as the line was disconnected at the telephone exchange.
Anyone know of any cheaper alternative? Thanx.

tiscali can do the whole package (phone calls / broadband / line rental) for £14.99 a month, BT told me i had to pay the £122 to get the line connected, tiscali done it for their standard 30 quid set up charge. BT are a bunch of liars, if you did need a new line aswell tiscali put it in for 99 quid.0

Problem is Tiscali are literally the worst ISP in the UK.
Can't you get the line activated cheaper? Speak to BT, they'll usually do it for much less if you tie yourself into a 12 month contract. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
you can go to the post office if they are in your area. they dont charge for a line, the line rental is cheaper that BT and its a 1 month rolling contract with 15 days notice required to quit0

According to their website they charge £99 for line activation or installing. Why would they go to the expense of giving you a free line installation on a 1 month contract? No free lunch, and no free laptop
