confused_soul: welcome to the thread, hope the blood tests can help the doctors to help you

UnluckyT:hope you feel better soon, make sure you get some well deserved rest! I comfort eat too, and part of why i'm down again is i halved the dose of my meds to try and lose weight but as the doctor today pointed out its not worth sacrificing my MH over and why not wait til January as i can have a fresh start then.

    HeartShapedDiamond: you give great advice

Doctor i saw today recommended i up the dose of my mood stabiliser and leave losing weight till after new year, she said the most important thing is keeping my mood stable through xmas and new year.

  • Messed Up - I totally agree with your doc. Just try to relax and enjoy Christmas. If it makes you feel any better, you could participate in light exercise like a walk with a friend/family member. That way you'll feel like you can control the weight in a way that will relieve stress and not put any pressure on you. Totally listen to your doctor, but it's just a thought, walking always makes me feel good and it burns calories if you'd like to think of it that way. It's a really positive way to go, but don't feel guilty about eating at Christmas. You're supposed to eat at Christmas time and celebrate ;)

  • Was introduced to my worker today. She is a mental health social worker & is part of the mental health team where I live.

Unfortunatly, due to past experiences, I have great mis-trust of social workers in general. I did express this to her, however, I am going to work with her & see how things progress.

What I'm curious to know is: what is the role of a mental health social worker & what can expect from the relationship?

So quiet here - is everybody better

Got a raging cold and virtually snowed in. Things have been stressful for me for quite some time with very little let up which is why I haven't been here myself.

Have a great Christmas and hope the new year is less stressful to us all:)

hi all, hope all is as well as it can be and or getting thier.
plodding on at the moment, not too bad, but not too keen on this time of year as ive had the unpleasant experience of my ex-stepdad deciding to be a total git when he'd got the divorse papers in his hand this time of year.
plus family just not understanding that it not just me being really tight and not paying out to get a taxi home christmas day what with having to work boxing day again, the reason again im on my own christmas day and the fact the only member of family drives wont help me get home let alone the rest of the family club together to help me. yet if the boot was on the other foot as the saying goes?
oh well, have a good one everyone.

    Merry Christmas everyone.

I've managed to wangle an invite to my girlfriend (feels weird saying that) to my place for Christmas. Was alot easier convincing flatmate than I thought. Flatmate will spend most of the day on facebook anyway (like most of her days), so it will be good to have some company!

Hope you all have somewhere nice to be and someone you want to be with over the festive period.

I haven't been around for a while - Ive been seeing a specialist who completely understands what Ive been going through for the last 36 years and Im having treatment. (http://www.studd.co.uk for all you ladies who think their depression may be hormonally induced) Ive been feeling so much better and haven't spent that much time on the net.

I hope you aren't all feeling too bad and can enjoy the festive season and I wish you all a happy Christmas and a positive and happy New Year!

Beth that's wonderful news. I was only thinking about you recently and wondering how you were. It makes all the difference I'm sure to find someone who really understands what the issues are and can help you start to deal with them. You deserve to feel well - as does everyone - and I wish you all the very best with it xx

And good to hear from you Miro as well and that you have found some happiness in your life. I hope you and your girlfriend have a lovely Christmas.

And I wanted to wish everyone on this thread a peaceful Christmas and a happy, healthy and positive 2011. You all deserve it. This thread was a lifeline to me and I will never forget the kindness I received here.

All is well in the Sazzy and Badgie household. We've been a bit restricted by the snow for the last few days but hoping to venture out tomorrow to visit my folks and Badgie's family in the coming days.
    Happy Christmas Everyone :)

    Much love to you all,
