  • Sortakinda. The Maestro network currently in use in the UK was, until about 2003, known as Switch, then rebranded as Maestro after it was purchased by MasterCard, in line with MCs other European debit card operations. The Switch/Maestro network and MasterCard's are completely seperate, whereas Visa and Visa Debit are much more intertwined.

    Thank you very much for going to the trouble to explain. I guess the main thing is I can use it like I did with barclays card so I'm happy.
