Placed my first ever online shop with Ocado, what happens now?
Got a voucher in post, for 15% off your first Ocado order over £40 (VOU0266057).
Never tried it before, so I thought I would.....
Saved £17 odd in multibuy offers & £11 odd with the voucher, so VERY pleased:D
Got 6 sirlions for £14.99, after 15% only, works out at £2.12 a sirloin:j :money:
Do they bring it into your kitchen or take it at the door like parcels?
Is it in boxes or bags? If boxes you must unpack if bags do they wait while you whip the stuff out?
I'm a home delivery virgin:o

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. OK, a real answer?
They are the rolls royce of supermarket delivery. I get a text reminding me what time my delivery is, telling me about substitutions, and which colour van it is/the registration number (if I was the nervy type, I'd find this reassuring). When the van comes, the driver will bring the bags in for you if you want. The bags are colour coded - freezer, fridge and cupboard. The receipt has the use-by information on it. Ours has only been late once, and he rang to warn us, and we almost never have a substitution. The own brand stuff is really high quality - so I end up spending less, because I don't do labels. They have an excellent brown loaf (Doves Farm wholemeal) that slices well and toasts perfectly. I would never go back to Sainsburys.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -

I do shop there (but not my main shop really & not regularly, so I know & agree with how good they are:D
).
I LOVE    their bread, I like the stuff loose in the baskets (the baguettes, rolls & sourdoughs & stuff):j :j :j :j :j
I really like their sliced ham for sandwiches, I don't find it any dearer than the decent stuff from other supermarkets & they often have offers on it which makes it cheap (considering the quality).
I love the baby bottom butter (no baby), use it for all sorts.
They have a nice card section & their cooked chickens are the best:money:0 -

Blimey! I was impressed when the Tesco's bloke offered to carry the stuff up to my flat last week - I did warn him it was 2nd floor with no lift!0 -

I don't expect him to bring it in or anything, but I was wondering about the bags/boxes. Do they wait for them, or pick them up next time, or just leave them?
Do you tip him?0 -
Usually it comes in plastic bags, inside plastic crates. They / you take it out of the crates and take them away. The bags are just "normal" plastic ones so you keep those (althugh I know you can give carrier bags for recycling to the Tescos people). I've never tipped them and I've never got the impression from any of the delivery people that it's expected.0

The carrier bags are also colour coded so you get bags of chilled, frozen and store cupboard, sorry cannot remember which colour is which!0
