Logistics aside, most cruise lines would take objection to this. They don't allow you to take your own booze on board.

Sorry for my misleading post, it was about the flight. For your info, most cruise lines let you bring a reasonable amount of alcohol on board.

Wine boxes are no problem in aircraft they have no air pockets,

    Bottles are usualy ok anyway.

Also for reference never had a problem with getting wine boxes on board any ship including those that are not keen, much better than bottles that do get spotted.

If you have space issues, take the bag out of the box and pack seperately duck tape the box back once on board for dispensing.

Weight(1ltr==1kg) is still an issue but less than bottles.

For the dedicated booze smuggler on cruise ships

wine box bags can be used if you can get them to reseal

Which cruise lines do you think are OK with this and what limits do they think are reasonable?

Why not buy your wine when you get to Venice. A local supermarket will have plenty of cheap, decent wine and you will not have to worry about flying with it.
Incidently, I have flown a number of times with wine in my checked luggage, always well wrapped and inside a plastic bag, and never had any problems. A friend once had a bottle of wine break in his suitcase and ruin everything. Until then he always wonderded, "Why do they sell suitcases at airports. What type of muppet buys a suitcase at an airport." It turns out they do so for muppets such as him!

I have checked, the supermarkets in Venice do not sell the wine I want and certainly not in boxes. I do not want cheap wine..and it is wine boxes, not bottles that this thread is about.

What's the point in going on a cruise if you have to 'money save' while on it? Drinking cheap wine, alone in your cabin seems...well...missing the point somewhat.

    Wine in boxes?

    Classy.
    From Poland...with love.

The books are sitting just there on the floor.

Think of the weight restrictions when flying. Be safer as well to buy some nice wine when you get to some of your destinations try something different.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a glass or two in your room, even from a wine box! I was paying £8 a glass in Dubai, so a few in our apartment to offset the cost was perfectly good sense to me? It doesn't in any way de-value the holiday. I think you will find that most people do it!
